I really hope they dont start the year with skeltor as the starter. And, this is important that they need to resign fitz

So this is a question for the true CARDINALS fans on this board.
Who do you see the Cardinals drafting at #5? Who do you want the Cardinals to pick?

To be perfectly honest, I think the Cardinals are going to skip drafting a QB at #5 and draft one in the later rounds... Maybe 5th or 6th and sign a vet like Bulger as a back up so John Skelton can be the starter.

There's a few intriguing players who would command a high draft pick like Patrick Peterson, Von Miller, Da'Quan Bowers...

I would really like to see the Cardinals pick Von Miller. We haven't had a good pass rusher since Bertrand Berry. O'Brien Schofield looks promising but we could slide him on the left side so he can deal with the right tackles while Von Miller can provide the pass rush off the edge and help cover up the secondary (This fits perfectly with how Ken Whisenhunt has been progressively turning the Cardinals into the Steelers mold.)

However, I could also see the Cardinals picking Patrick Peterson if he's still there at #5 instead

I want Peterson, but probably Von.

Washington and Schofield are going to be studs with Lenon and then lets throw in one more LB I think we could be fairly solid at LB for a bit. DRC and Toler is not really the best CB combo but if we make it Peterson and DRC with Toler as the Nickle, would be amazing to me.

Okay so looking at the current roster before any changes are made with the upcoming free agency period.
Sorted by depth chart at the end of the 2010 season.

Running backs:

Beanie Wells was a disappointment. He was hurt a lot and kept getting stuffed on the run.
116 carries
397 yards
2 TDs

Tim Hightower was our best back for sure but we stopped running the football and went with passing plays. He also fumbled several footballs
153 carries
736 yards
5 TDs
5 fumbles (4 of which were lost)

LaRod Stephens-Howling - This kid is a good football player that just wasn't blessed by mother nature with a bigger body. He tied with the top spot for most kick-off return TDs.
23 attempts
113 yards
1 TD

Jason Wright announced his retirement a short time ago. He was a decent special teamer.
6 attempts
28 yards

The running back position is looking pretty bad as well. I'm glad the front office went with a running back in the 2nd round. I'm liking this Ryan Williams kid. He has a lot of upside.

Quarterbacks:

John Skelton
Richard Bartel
Derek Anderson
Max Hall

I just shake my head. I want John Skelton to be a future star. The fact is that the odds are WAY against it. The backup QB is always the most popular guy in town when the starter stinks. Anyone who's been following Cardinals longer than 5 years should see a very clear trend.

John Navarre
Brian St Pierre
Tyler Palko
Max Hall

And now John Skelton.

There's always the "feel good" story of a backup coming in and performing well. Hell, last year Max Hall was our savior until people actually saw him play for 4 full quarters. No fans outside of Cardinals fans think that Skelton is a legit starter....and I like the guy.

662 yards
60:126 attempts:complete
2 TDs
2 Ints

That's fine.

Max Hall - Okay moving on. This kid shouldn't have made it into the league. He got lucky plain and simple against the Saints.

370 yards
39:78 attempts:complete
1 TD
6 Ints
5 fumbles (2 lost)

Richard Bartel was brought in from the UFL because by week 16, the Cardinals ran out of quarterbacks. Max Hall and Derek Anderson out with injury and John Skelton was the only healthy quarterback. He did play some snaps at the end of the year too.
150 yards
16:28
0 TD
1 Int

The quarterback situation is looking very grim. We need a veteran quarterback that can manage a hybrid west coast offense. Whoever it is will also need to learn the offensive system pretty quickly as well. It was proven with Derek Anderson that we can't put just any quarterback with a strong arm under center and still win games.

At this point it is vital that the cardinals get a respectable QB without downgrading anywhere where we do not have depth. No I do not consider Greg Toler "depth" we have a chance here to build a dynasty duo at CB and I see NO upside to trading DRC. Greg Toler is not good enough in the cover game to start CB and money mike is not good enough to be our passing situation nickel back. We need to keep DRC but go after a QB whether it be orton or kolb or whoever.

Oh just a note, before we signed Richard Bartel from the UFL, and both Max Hall and Derek Anderson were placed on IR, the emergency quarterback was Steve Breaston... lol.

The Cardinals need to re-sign Breaston. He makes plays at crucial times. He got injured because we had Derek Anderson as our starting quarterback. The ball would come to him so fast and so hard from wierd angles. Breaston had to over extend in order to grab those passes and yet he still made plays. Take for example the fumble recovery from a Derek Anderson interception? That got us a win against the Rams.
