I'm one of those people who post personals a bunch and sometimes venture over here to lurk and read hate speech and that one weird guy who actually offers a really nice presence here (TheProphet I think). Anyhow, I read this personal and it kinda makes me wish computers were still exclusively for really nerdy guys who build genital stimulation devices from radioshack in their spare time. Despite the fact that it is almost the template every female uses.

Hey, it's Scoops here at training camp for Monday and Tuesday.  For those that can't make it, I'll be giving you some info and some observations.  There will be some photos and some youtube videos.  Since I'm uploading at a hotel the speed is non existent.  Stay tuned for videos and pictures.

Ok, let's get started.

8:20 Players began walking down autograph alley toward the field.  Fans were somewhat quiet, almost no autograph signings but they jogged down.  Sinorice was the only Giant to wear a helmet as he came down toward the field.  Coach Coughlin was in good spirits.  Steve Smith was high five-ing some lucky fans.  Most players were more serious and looking down as they walked by.  Danny Ware signed a few autographs on the walk down which is very unusual for morning practices.  Jay Alford was also high five-ing some lucky fans.  He looked in good spirits.  I think he was just happy to be back in uniform and ready to play again.  He had a nice grin on his face.

Forgot to mention- Diehl had some serious media on him during the walkdown.  Boom microphone and some photographers.  No idea why.  Also a fan yelled at Snee to sign his football and commented something to the effect of, "Hey Snee, come sign by O'Hara I got him yesterday." and Snee replied, "I don't even like him!" and then began to smile.  It was a nice fun humorous moment you don't often get to see from the players.

8:30 Stretching and light jogging up and down the field.  Players used stretchy rubber band type equipment to stretch.  They were on their backs and really contorted.

8:45 Field 1 were the defensive backs and wr's and special teams.  Punt team practiced first in the center part of the field.  Off to the side the DB and LB's were practicing passing drills.  Off on the second field were the DEs and DT's who pretty much pretended to continue stretching.  Further away on the field were the QB's playing some catch warming up and the OL and some other WR's.

9:00 the Punt team was done and on come the DB and LBs  Perry was energetic getting the D motivated.  They practiced a snap drill where they sweep left or right and run at top speed toward the endzone.  The first drill wasn't up to standard and he let them have it verbally.  There were 3 teams practicing this drill and they did it 3 times each. I'm assuming 1st, 2nd and 3rd string groups.

9:10  The offense is still on field 2, and I'm on the hill on field 1.  Defensive backs are now doing a drill where the coach is the QB and he is dropping back to pass and is positing his body in such a way to give away his throwing position which the DB's are keying on.  He is pumping a throw and the DB's break in that direction.  I'm going to assume the body language, feet and position is key for making good breaks on the ball.  This went on for a while.  I liked what I saw during this drill.  The Linebackers also participated a bit doing back peddling drills with a coach off to the side.

9:30 The offense is still on field 2 doing some light throws and some position drills. The DE's and DT's are doing, what? I have no idea off on field 2.  They still look like they didn't do much.  On field 1 the WR's are having a competition with the DB's.  The WR's are trying to make a break off the snap and get open while the DB's of course are trying to cover them.  Barden still slow off the line.  Sinorice made some sick cuts and got an OOOOOOHHH from the crowd.  Some no name wide receivers participated. I didn't see Nicks during this drill.  I may have missed him but I think he may have been over with the O on field 2.

9:45 Some coverage drills on punt team again.  Sinorice fielding punts along with some others I couldn't get a good look at.

10:00 7 on 7's.  My favorite time of the practice.  Offense comes over to field 1 and I got some great videos.  First up  Manning ran about 6 plays.  Some handoffs, some passes. Nothing major except for a beautiful one handed INT by Webster.  I got that on video and I'll be uploading that.
After Manning goes Sorgi and he had an awful practice.  Seriously awful.  Bounce passes and passes way off the mark.  I was not impressed.  After him comes Bomar and he really does well with the quick slant.  Great slant passer.  Some communication problems with Hagen but overall not horrible.  They rotate every 6 plays or so going 3 times each.  Sorgi was the worst of the 3 by far.

Horn blows and they go into stretching and cool down mode which signals the end of practice.  I made my way toward autograph alley to get some videos to show you what it's like for the players.  There were some semi cute college girls begging for autographs.  They didn't even know the names of the players calling them by their number.  You'll probably hear them on the video.  Eli signed a few which you'll see when the videos are done uploading.  Overall a good practice.

Some observations: (These are my views and not fact) Eli looked good and comfortable.  Sinorice really tore it up. Great practice.  Love Perry Fewell's energy and voice.  Really gets after it without sounding obnoxious.  There seems to be an emphasis on energy and emotion which was so devoid last year. Gillbride had a nice conversation with Bomar when he made the wrong read.  He came right over to him and explained something.  It was good to see the immediate correction and instruction.  Tynes, why did he even show up to AM? He stretched twice today.  Dodge our new punter... didn't even kick on special teams.  I was looking for Feagles but didn't see him.  I hear he is working with him.

Stay tuned for the PM practice report and more pictures and videos which I'll add here when they are done.  PHEW. . Done for now.

SCOOPS.....OUT.

Camp Report, August 2, Morning Practice
Marty in Albany : 12:27 pm

Corey Webster Makes Outstanding Interception

The Giants were playing in shells and shorts again this morning. My guess is that they won't be wearing full pads until tomorrow evening's practice, or maybe Wednesday. In any case, there was plenty to see on this perfect morning for watching practice.

Finally, the offense and the defense lined up against each other. Corey Webster took this opportunity to make a leaping one-handed interception of a slightly under-thrown sideline pass by QB Eli Manning that was intended for WR Mario Manningham. Corey caught the ball then turned and scampered away with the purloined pigskin to the delight of both the hooting defensive players and the assembled fans.

It was interesting to see Adam Koets starting at center in place of Shaun OHara. Adam had a false start, I think, and is clearly still in the journeyman stage at this position. I believe that OG Rich Seubert also got to make some center snaps.

I am pleased to report that our running backs all seem to be healthy. Brandon Jacobs caught the pass that was thrown to him and he seemed to be running with speed and power. On one run up the left sideline, after about twenty or twenty-five yards, he made a nice cut to his right to avoid a defensive back.

HB Ahmad Bradshaw also had an opportunity to shine. His number was called five or six times and he ran with power. On one run he must have cut five different times. My only question is whether he has regained his full speed.

It looks like both HB Andre Brown and HB D.J. Ware are at full speed. They each caught a pass and they ran well. I was surprised and delighted to see Andre Brown run and cut as if he had never ruptured his Achilles tendon.

HB Gartrell Johnson, was apparently stung by yesterday's "rigor mortis" comment by Coach Coughlin. He ran hard. On his first carry he did not stop at the 40 but ran an additional 60 yards down to the goal line.

QB Eli Manning looks to be very much in command of his throws. His passes are accurate and in rhythm. He has not attempted any bombs, but none of the QBs have.

QB Jim Sorgi and QB Rhett Bomar have also made some fine completions. It is very early in camp, but so far it looks like the difference between Sorgi and Bomar is that Bomar is slower to pick up his receivers.

There were some nice receptions made this morning. One of the best was a fine sliding catch by WR Ramses Barden on a low throw from QB Jim Sorgi in the 11 on 11s. Barden always impresses me. He is a big tall man, but is never awkward making a catch, or out of control running his patterns.

Two plays later, WR Sinorice Moss made a fine leaping catch of a Sorgi pass. I tend to think that Barden would caught that pass without having to leap for it. Also in the 11 on 11s, TE Bear Pascoe made an impressive diving catch of a QB Rhett Bomar pass.

On defense, some Johnsons were winners and other Johnsons were losers. CB Bruce Johnson made a fine play to knock down a Jim Sorgi pass intended for WR Tim Brown. CB D.J. Johnson seemed to have trouble picking up passes before they arrived and he allowed at least three completions. On one occasion, his failure to pick up the ball in flight cost him (in my opinion) an easy interception.

WR Duke Calhoun has got game. He is a big guy at 6-4 and I was impressed by the two catches that he made and with his speed.

There was more punt receiving with WR Sinorice Moss, CB Aaron Ross, S Antrel Rolle, and WR Adam Jennings catching the punts from the jugs gun. While this was going on, the defensive linemen were working on blocking techniques for punts. The coach singled out DE Jason Pierre-Paul for doing a good job in the drill.

There was also a defensive "turn and go" drill where the defensive linemen and linebackers had to do some change of direction running. None of the players appeared to be slower than the rest of the squad. I think that is a good sign.

Not only are S Antrel Rolle and S Deon Grant the starting Safeties, but Rolle, and to a lesser extent Grant, are used by Coach Merritt to demonstrate the proper techniques to be used in the defensive drills. Rolle also made a good play to stop a reverse (I think) in the offensive backfield in the 11 on 11s.

Have I mentioned that DT Chris Canty is a monster?
