I still actually think Mack could be a dark horse selection for the Texans. We surprised everyone in 2006 by taking Mario Williams over Vince Young and Reggie Bush. I'd prefer Clowney, though.

The closer we get to draft night on May 8, the more and more I believe that Jadeveon Clowney is going to be our number one overall pick. There is only one wild card in all of this and that's if the Houston Texans are able to land a boat load of picks via a big trade. I know they will continue to take phone calls all the way up until they are on the clock, but unless it's some team in the top six making a strong offer, the Atlanta Falcons being the most interesting because they publicly have let it be known that they want Jadeveon Clowney at all costs, it's unlikely they'll deal the pick.

Can anybody tell me about this free agent running back the Texans signed from the Giants?
That video I posted was the only game I've ever seen him play in the NFL. I don't know much.
In that game he had 20 carries, 113 rushing yards (5.7 ypc) and two rushing Touchdowns.
He also had three receptions for 17 yards. That may have been the best game of his career.

Andre Brown agreed to a one-year, $645,000 deal with the Houston Texans, which he posted a picture of him signing the deal with the team on his own Twitter account that confirmed him signing.

Good RB, unable to stay healthy, but I think it's a good signing.

It's a long shot that he can stay healthy for the full 2014 season. He's expected to be 100 % when mini camp starts.

He can't perform any worse than Ben Tate did last season. At least I hope not. Tate had a 7-carry, 1-yard game against the Jaguars (0.1 ypc).

The Houston Texans still have a little over $12 million of cap space. Not sure how much of it will be allocated to their draft picks but it seems like they have targeted some major needs in free agency already and for bargain prices. Safety help (Kendrick Lewis, Chris Clemons), a nose tackle (Jerrell Powe), tight end (Zach Potter), backup running back (Andre Brown) and a veteran quarterback (Ryan Fitzpatrick).

I'd like to see them try and add a veteran offensive tackle before the draft starts next month. I know that none of those names I listed will excite anybody but the Texans seem like a better team right now than they were to end last season. Just having a healthy Arian Foster and Brian Cushing makes a huge difference. And after the draft the Texans should look even better going into mini camp next month.

I've been dreaming about this guy playing with J.J. Watt for the past two years.
He's drawing comparisons to Bruce Smith and Lawrence Taylor. That's unreal.
I watched L.T. play (the original L.T.) and he was pretty much unstoppable.

The Texans’ 2014 preseason schedule features the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos. The four-game slate, which opens in early August at the Arizona Cardinals, will highlight new coach Bill O’Brien’s first preseason with the team. The Texans, who haven’t won since Sept. 15, hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 draft. The first round is May 8.

Week 1, TBA (Aug. 7-10) at Arizona Cardinals (KTRK) TBA

Week 2, TBA (Aug. 14-18) ATLANTA FALCONS (KTRK-TV) TBA

Week 3, TBA (Aug. 21-24) at Denver Broncos (KTRK-TV) TBA

Week 4, Aug. 28 SAN FRANCISCO 49ers (KTRK-TV) TBA

Only four months away until some football again. That doesn't seem like a long wait. It goes by fast once the draft is over. None of the times are listed for the four preseason games and the only definite date is the August 28 game against the 49ers at Reliant Stadium. The 2014 regular-season schedules should come out soon.
