Respectfully disagree... Wait 4 years to judge a player. When he was fully healthy and rocking that Thanksgiving game vs the Texans he nabbed 6 catches for 126 yards. He definitely is capable. If he has another season ending injury this year it will be disappointing.

Also... people doubted Tebow coming out of college because of his style of play and many didn't believe he would work in the NFL. He still has more playoff wins than Stafford lol

Here's the thing. Even if he can come back w/o injury. The guy has hardly any NFL playing time. So he is a 3rd year player that who will be a rookie. He has had to horrible injuries. He will not be as fast as he was out of college, ever. Now, he has good hands... and with both Calvin and Tate on the field he can still contribute. However, he will never be the player we hoped for when we drafted him.

Also, I don't think we can expect anything from him... so I would still have no issue with us drafting a WR in the first round (trading up for Watkins or taking Evans).

This is pretty much how i feel, im sick of expecting him to come in and make an impact so whatever he adds at this point is a plus

He wasnt fast coming out of college and he has probably slowed down with these injuries

I still hope he can fill in as a slot wr with great hands, we dont need him to be explosive, just consistent with minimal drops which is what these wrs outside of calvin have lacked all these years

Well if we're judging players off of one solid game, I believe Ogletree had 120 yds and 2 touchdowns in the season opener against the Giants the same season as that texans game. Broyles just seems like the typical player that the Lions as an organization holds faith in waiting for them to breakout opposed to cutting our losses and moving on. ( Pettigrew, LeShoure, Best, Houston, etc.)

I just don't believe Ryan Broyles possibly coming back should be a reason from shying away from other possible prospects via free agency or the draft.

There is nothing wrong with Stafford side arm throwing mechanics, according to this article

Its not that he doesn't know how to throw side arm, its that he uses it way too much or in the pocket sometimes when he shouldnt

I read that too. My roommate and I constantly get in arguments about this. I say there is no problem with it (when used in the right situation)... he thinks that it shouldn't be used at all. Was glad others thing I what I did too.

Its a tool, like throwing on the run - Some QBs can do it and some cant so if you can do it why not count it as a weapon in your arsenal

But a game like the MNF game against BAL, he throws sidearm in the pocket and it gets picked off by one of the D-linemen

Yeah I agree. I think towards the end of last season when he kind of "fell apart" he started to rely on that too much. He stopped using it when appropriate.

Yes, almost like he preferred to throw side arm as opposed to staying in the pocket and passing it overhand. A lot of his side arms are pitches basically to the backs too. I still maintain he throws it too damn hard overhand, especially when he tries to throw it like a rope to a guy. It bounces right off them if they don't secure it. A lot of his ints were because of that, hell even Calvin has it happen.

davebirkett: #Lions are working out CB Cassius Vaughn today. They still need help at the position.
