Finally realized what the Pats strategy for the game needs to be: Onsides kick it every time.
Atlanta scoring a Td on a 75 yd drive or on a 40 yd drive is the same 7 points either way
But if you onsides kick it every time, 2 things work in your favor:
A ) Giving up a shorter td drive means your defense doesn't spend as much time on the field getting worn out
B ) There's a chance you recover the kick (game changer)
So if the Patriots attempt 7 onsides kicks and recover 2 of them, they would have a pretty good shot to win the game 45-42
Pats score 45 points in 8 possessions (including 2 short fields from the successful recoveries)
Falcons score 42 points in 6 possessions (all short fields due to failed onsides kicks)
The Patriots already stole the Falcons' play book, so what's the point of that?
