He easily could be. He was really coming on during that Texans game before tearing his ACL. You realize he has the most receptions EVER for NCAA football? I wouldn't place all my hope in him but to say that he is useless is silly. Fingers crossed that he had a good recovery and is able to stay healthy this year

he's had every shot at the job and cant stay healthy, and when he is healthy he does nothing

and as for the NCAA record, remember pre-season darling patrick edwards from last season? he had 1800 yds and 20 tds his senior year - college stats mean nothing

Broyles was a boom or bust draft pick, and is a bust

e/

Durham, Ogletree both better receivers

I hated broyles coming out of college (I even remember telling randy that) because half of his receptions were wr screens or passes that we're short of the first down marker

Defenses in the NFL easily adjust to a wr like that

You must hate Sammy Watkins then considering he caught 45.45% of his balls BEHIND the line of scrimmage

Edwards played nobody when he was at Houston, I wasn't as high on him as everyone else was. He has stone hands. Broyles has glue hands and could serve as a valuable asset if he can stay healthy. He is a really good route runner and when healthy he seems like he's always open. Hard worker, good kid, you have to root for him

There's a huge difference: Watkins looks like he has the whole package (besides the size) and can dominate defenses without other WRs taking away attention

When Broyles decided to enter the draft I was telling Randy he doesn't seem to have any explosiveness, speed, size, anything. All he had going for him was his hands and half the catches were designed to put the ball in his hands easily because college defenses are pathetic

edit: I hope he can come back, but he wasn't fast to begin with. 4.57 40 and after 2 surgeries and years of injuries he's going to slow down
I hope we can use him as an effective slot WR and a first down machine. Id hate to go 0 for 4 on second round picks (if you count Best) with mikel, broyles, titus and broyles

I was just using Edwards as an example, not a direct comparison. Tim Tebow was one of the best statistical players in the history of college football. NCAA stats are irrelevant to compare to NFL.

I may be too hard on Broyles but the reason is its not like we haven't seen him on the field. He's already past the point of 'boom or bust'. The injuries have took too much of a toll on him at this point and I don't ever see him being able to produce at an NFL level.

Respectfully disagree... Wait 4 years to judge a player. When he was fully healthy and rocking that Thanksgiving game vs the Texans he nabbed 6 catches for 126 yards. He definitely is capable. If he has another season ending injury this year it will be disappointing.

Also... people doubted Tebow coming out of college because of his style of play and many didn't believe he would work in the NFL. He still has more playoff wins than Stafford lol
