you still mad about how he left us? How do you really feel man?

I would get banned or warned if I stated how I really feel about him. The running back is my favorite position in football. We had one of the best in Billy Sims back when I was a kid.The guy was the kind you wanted on your team, a stud on and off the field. He got hurt and had to retire, it broke my heart. Then we got Barry, and I was happy again as it gave me something to cheer for being a lions fan. It wasn't like it is now back then, we didn't have nfl network or redzone and you were lucky to catch more than one game a week. We had 3 channels and only one showed one football game on Sunday, and one on Monday, but I was too young to stay up that late for MNF. When Barry quit it took what little hope we had as lions fans at the time away in an instant. Imagine how you would feel if Calvin Johnson said this off season he was retiring because the Lions suck. That's what Barry did when He was our Calvin Johnson.

I feel ya man and understand. I'm not is enough to have seen sims play but I know of him being a Lions fan. I grew up watching Barry and he was and is by far my favorite Lion. When he did what he did I was pissed, hurt and let down. But I soon let it go. I couldn't keep hating on him. He was the best Lion we've had at the RB position ever in my mind. I have his jersey, and I wear it every other Lions game. After all the discussion and stories revolving around him leaving, I forgave him. Having players like Calvin gives us Lions fans hope like we had when we had Barry. But neither Barry then, or Calvin now, can carry this team on their back alone. So we wait and hope, that the day will come when we have a FULL team to get us where we need to be.

I had a dream in which I was with the Detroit like head quarters during the draft and I had to make the pick and make the call to Roger.

I picked Barr and everyone was in an outrage because watkins was available. Everyone hated me the fans. The players, at one point calvin johnson looked at me in disgust for not getting watkins, even the office was mad and everyone hated me. Barry sanders as well.

Shit was rad

I'm a hate-filled, grudge holding bastard I guess. I hate how Barry comes back like he is a big Lions supporter, he left because the franchise was losing, and now he is treated like a hero? To me he is like a guy in the army that went awol and shows back up after the war is over and acts like he had something to do with winning it. He should never be welcomed back in my opinion. I wouldn't wear a Barry Sanders jersey if you paid me to, he is a loser and a quitter in my book. He was fun to watch and could have broken all the records and possibly helped us to become somewhat relevant, but he still screwed the entire organization over.

I feel the same way. I loved how he started coming back to games once the lions were winning. He's a dick. I still think he was one of the best RB in the game, but I will never be a fan of his.

well maybe I am a bit more forgiving, but I do understand your point of view..and I don't label him as a hero, and I wear his jersey because of what he did do when he was with us. And don't think I don't understand or believe that he would have broken all the records, and made the Lions something that they weren't, but then, just like now..we missed pieces..it wasn't all on him..and we expected way more from him than we should of. I was just curious on your view of it, and I know you aren't alone about it. I guess I'm just one of the few that let it die and still respect him, even though he did the Lions and us fans wrong
