Charley Casserly and Daniel Jeremiah discuss if the Houston Texans can afford not to take a quarterback with the first pick in the 2014 draft.

Charley Casserly used to be the Texans general manager and it didn't work out so well during his time here. So he'd take Teddy Bridgewater number one overall. I'm not saying he's right or wrong but it's the same man who selected David Carr instead of Julius Peppers back in the 2002 draft. That one bad decision set the team back for at least five years.

I believe Charley Casserly is wrong talking about why Gary Kubiak was fired, "it wasn't because their lack of defense." Since when is forcing eleven turnovers in sixteen games and giving up nearly 28 points per game good? We lost seven straight games by one score, even with Case Keenum at quarterback, and they all came down to the final few seconds of the game. Our defense crumbled in every one of them. I can only imagine if Charley Casserly were still the Texans GM.

Daniel Jeremiah seems to know what he is talking about in this video. I feel the same way as he does.

You know what I mean. A can't-miss QB. Doesn't have to be Andrew Luck-good. But that player isn't there this draft.

You like Bridgewater, right? We could probably get him at 3 or 4. Why not trade down to get him and land an extra pick or two? My point is that I don't think we should take a QB at #1. If we want a QB, let's take him down a little bit. Otherwise, I don't see a better talent to take at #1 than Clowney.

Trade down to 3 or 4, we'll probably miss Bridgewater and Clowney, and most likely Manziel as well. Don't want Blake Bortles at all. So we would lose out on the 2 QBs and the best defensive player in the draft. That's why.

If we can get 3 1st rounders and a few 2nd/3rd rounders, that would be great but I don't think anyone would fall for that.

@Ryan, Charley also drafted Mario over VY and Bush.

How would we miss 3 players if we trade down to 3? Plus, even if we trade down to 4, Jake Matthews is more than likely to go in the top 3. We'd get Manziel or Bridgewater at 4 if we wanted. The Rams won't draft a QB.

I really doubt the Jaguars are looking to trade up. They'll get either Manziel, Bridgewater, or Clowney. They don't need to move. Rams are looking to trade down, not up. So that leaves the Browns and the 4th pick.

The only QB we will be drafting at #3 is Bridgewater. He's the only QB worth a top 10 pick. Caldwell said we can't risk reaching on somebody with the 3rd overall. That whoever we take at #3, they'll have to be a sure thing. The closest QB to a sure thing is Bridgewater. Manziel and Bortles are not sure things. It will either be Bridgewater or one of the Defensive players (Clowney, Barr, Mack).

If we trade with the Browns, I could see them grabbing Manziel.

We're going to have a dominating defense with Romeo Crennel calling the plays and a lot of talented players. A guy that's ready to step up and become an elite player is safety D.J. Swearinger. Keep on eye on him as he enters his second season in the NFL. I felt like he showed some flashes of greatness last season but made the typical rookie mistakes. Between him and Kareem Jackson we need those young guys to play well in the secondary

Johnathan Joseph is aging and looked a step slow last year. We may have to think about grooming a young cornerback that we either draft in the later rounds or find as an undrafted free agent. A great pass rush and strong front seven will always make life easier for a young secondary. So I'm not too worried about our secondary especially if Joseph has a bounce back year. He was an all pro in 2011 and a pro bowler in 2011 and 2012. At 29 years old he should still have a few good years of football left in him.
