‎2012 DALLAS COWBOYS PENALTY BREAKDOWN
This post is a break down of penalties resulting in long downs and distances, or those committed in the redzone, resulting in a FG instead of a TD.

The Cowboys have committed 38 penalties to put them in long downs and distances (11-30 yards).

16 penalties make it 1st & 10+.
17 penalties make it 2nd & 10+.
5 penalties make it 3rd/4th down & 10+.
1 penalty makes it 4th & 10 resulting in a FG.

12 of those penalties have come within 30 yards of the endzone and have resulted in drives ending in 2 TDs and 10 FGs.

****TWELVE****

The Cowboys have come away with 44 points because of penalties, rather than the maximum of 84. I say maximum because no matter what, you won’t get a TD on every drive.

1st & 15: (7) occurrences.
1st & 17-20: (8) occurrences.
1st & 30+: (1) occurrence.
2nd & 11-14: (6) occurrences.
2nd & 15-19: (7) occurrences.
2nd & 20+: (4) occurrences.
3rd & 11-25: (4) occurrences.
