It's possible that Jadeveon Clowney is going to become a better player in the NFL than he ever was in college, but there's a better chance of him flourishing while playing for a great defensive coordinator like Romeo Crennel, and playing alongside the likes of J.J. Watt and hopefully a healthy Brian Cushing.
If we end up drafting Teddy Bridgewater number one overall the Houston fans are going to expect him to become better than Cam Newton (another former top pick), better than a healthy Robert Griffin III (who went second overall in his draft class), better than a third-round pick like Super Bowl winning Russell Wilson. The expectations will become enlarged and there's a better chance that he'll fail and become a bust.
I have a lot more fears drafting a guy like Teddy Bridgewater or Johnny Manziel than I do with Jadeveon Clowney.
Blake Bortles has legitimate NFL size and a strong arm with a body that won't break down. I'd take him number one.
I'd have less concerns building a franchise around a guy like that. A Ben Roethlisberger or Joe Flacco type of makeup.
Bill O'Brien is more familiar with Blake Bortles. He coached against him in college while at Penn State. Also his mentor in coaching, George O'Leary, coached Blake Bortles at Central Florida. I think we'd go Bortles if we do select a quarterback number one overall. I still want Clowney though.
I don't want Bortles. He's got bust written all over him for me. He shouldn't be a number one pick. If we want him, we should definitely trade down.

I still want Clowney. Honestly, I'd be fine with Barr (OLB UCLA), too. We could trade down a little. At this point, I don't want to depend on Cushing's health. He's a beast, but he's been injured so much. We need linebackers.
