I don't want Blake Bortles or Teddy Bridgewater. They seem like safe, mediocre picks. I'm not sold on them.

I want either Johnny Manziel or Clowney. And I'm leaning towards Manziel. But if we take Clowney, I'd be okay with that. He's probably the best physical talent in the draft.

Clowney reminds me of Mario. Great physical talent, but never plays at 100% like JJ Watt does. We already had the best defensive player in the league last year and where did that get us? 2-14 and #1 pick. We have other concerns/needs, but we need an elite QB and I can see Bridgewater becoming an elite QB. Manziel could under the right offense/team, but I don't see it happening in Houston. Teddy Bridgewater has played in a pro offense all his career, he knows how to read defenses(most important thing in a QB IMO), and he knows how to audible.

I understand your points, but I still think Bridgewater is just a mediocre QB - kinda like Schaub was until this season. With Manziel, I think you have a way higher floor and ceiling. Under Kubiak, we hardly ever took risks, both on the field and in the draft, and his 61-64 record is reflective of that.

I still say we go Manziel or Clowney. Either that, or we trade down and get more picks, because there are a lot of issues and positions that this team needs to address, and if we aren't completely sold on any one QB, mine as well get more picks in what is, in my opinion, kind of a muddled QB class.

Dream tank scenario: draft Clowney at #1, tank against next season, take Jameis Winston at #1, profit

lol i always liked the thought of tanking for 2-3 years and drafting/trading up. could you imagine doing bad for 2 more years and trading away players and early picks in 4-5 years to have 3 or 4 first round picks in 2014/2015? if you got lucky you could have a draft say, from 1989, and possibly get an aikman a barry sanders and a deion sanders all in same year LOL

of course knowing who was going to be future HOFers would be huge difference but you get the point

What is Teddy Bridgewater mediocre at? At not making exciting plays like Manziel? That's all I can come up with.

He's accurate, has amazing footwork, strong arm, can extend plays, will run as his last resort, can read defenses, change his protection, move his TEs around, and audible the plays(no one else in CFB does what he does, hell Matt Schaub couldn't do any of these things with us).

Only thing Manziel has going for him is that he has a strong arm, extremely mobile and will never give up on a play.

Passing up on Bridgewater would be the biggest mistake this franchise has ever made. He's isn't a guarantee to be a star or a franchise player, but if he reaches his ceiling, he will be the most successful.

Talent isn't the problem. Depth and coaching is.

I watched 2 game this season with him in it, and also seen some highlights and stuff around. Just seems like he makes conservative throws all the time and is nothing really that special. Seemed like most of his throws were just blown coverage or check downs. His competition in his conference wasn't that great.

So you've only watched 2 games? That explains it.

Yeah, his last two games, against Cinci and Miami (both on ESPN, so I could watch it). Those were arguably two of his best games. So yeah, I didn't watch his entire season, but I saw enough to know what kind of player he basically is.

One thing I like about him is that he showed improvement every season. So, it seems like he is at least coachable. I just don't think he has as high of a ceiling as Manziel. Maybe he has a higher floor.

I was talking about last season. But just looked that game up and looks like Bridgewater led a huge the team to a huge upset in that one (#3, one loss Florida). Maybe he's better than I thought!

But still, you want to talk about great games, look at Manziel against Alabama in either of those 2 games he played them. Or in his last 2 bowl game performances against OU and Duke.
