draino, what do you think about the possibility of Rex Ryan as the next head coach for the Houston Texans if the Jets fire him? I like him a whole lot better than Lovie Smith. Sexy Rexy coached the Jets to two straight AFC Championship games with Mark Sanchez as his quarterback. Give the man a good defense and strong run game and he can work wonders with that. Then again Lovie Smith once took Chicago to the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman as his starting quarterback. But those are two qualified head coaches who had a lot of success coaching in the NFL with less than ideal quarterbacks at their disposal.

I'm not really a big fan of Ken Whisenhunt. He once took Arizona to the Super Bowl with Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald.
They had a 9-7 record that season and got hot at the right time. He should have done more with that talented team, IMO.
But he has done a great job as the Chargers offensive coordinator this season. I'd rather hire him instead of a college guy.

The Texans will have a strong run game again in 2014 if Arian Foster returns to health. Our defense can become dominating again if we draft some good defensive players in the early rounds and Brian Cushing makes a successful return. J.J. Watt is still a young beast that commands two blockers every passing play.

The Houston Texans will either pick first or second in the 2014 NFL Draft. A good chance we'll pick first overall.
I think the Redskins will beat the Giants but even if they don't we're likely going to lose at Tennessee against the Titans anyways,
I'm ready to get this final game over with on Sunday. We can move on to a head coaching search. This will be an important off-season.

They talk about Andre Johnson at the end of the segment. I don't think there's anything wrong with the size of Houston's market or notoriety. The media coverage is obviously not that big in Houston like it is in other cities. He just doesn't have a good quarterback to play with.

Matt Schaub had a couple good seasons and that's about it. He wasted the first four seasons of his career (2003-2006) playing with David Carr and little offensive talent around him as well. And then in 2007 he got hurt. It wasn't until 2008, his sixth season in the NFL, that he put up All Pro numbers and was starting to get noticed as one of the best wide receivers in the game.

Andre Johnson has played with ten different quarterbacks during regular season games with the Houston Texans. That's a lot. David Carr, Dave Ragone, Tony Banks, Matt Schaub, Sage Rosengels, Dan Orlovsky, Rex Grossman, Matt Leinart, T.J. Yates and Case Keenum. It's not like he played with an elite quarterback during his NFL career. A few of those guys didn't even belong in the NFL.

Andre Johnson tied the NFL record for most seasons with 100 or more catches (5)
He also needs 142 receiving yards against the Titans in the final game to have his fourth 1500-yard season.
If you look at what he's done from 2008 to 2013, his injury-shortened season in 2011 aside, it's pretty impressive to say the least.

EDIT: Make it 10 different QBs he has played with during a regular season game with the Texans. I think that's all of them.
I forgot to include Matt Leinart, T.J. Yates and Case Keenum. I just added them right now. Oh boy, like it gets any better. LOL

That's the damn problem right there. Too many mediocre quarterbacks. That's why we've never advanced past the divisional round.
A couple of wild-card wins against the Bengals in twelve years as a franchise is all we have to hang our hats on. It's pretty pathetic actually.

Johnathan Joseph has been ruled out already for the final game on Sunday against the Titans. I don't know how we're going to stop Nate Washington and Kendall Wright in the passing game. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a lot like Chad Henne: They may suck against most teams but they typically dominate the Houston Texans.

I also expect Chris Johnson to have a monster game and rush for around 120 yards with 2 or 3 TDs. They also have Shonn Greene who's capable of rushing for big yards. Both Chris Johnson and Shonn Greene had 90 yards rushing apiece last week against the Jaguars. And the Jaguars have a better defense than we do at the moment. We don't even have to rely on the Redskins to beat the Giants. I think we'll clinch the first overall pick outright by losing at Tennessee.

But just in case, I'll be scoreboard watching and keeping a close eye on that Redskins versus Giants since it's a noontime start also.

We're not going to win the Super Bowl but having the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft is the next best alternative I guess. #23 Arian Foster is leading the way and carrying the load of reindeer on the first image I posted. If he can come back healthy in 2014 we'll have a much better team.

The video I posted yesterday on the post above. The old one had an error code on it so they had to remove it and re upload it.

I'm ready to see the Texans cheerleaders new Friday Freestyle video tomorrow. I've enjoyed those more this season than the Texans actual games. I've been counting down the days until the 2014 NFL Draft which starts on Thursday: May 8, 2014.

Once 2014 hits next Tuesday Night at midnight, I'm not even going to remember this dismal 2013 season anymore.

Two more days and this 2013 season comes to an end. I can't wait. I hope the Texans win but the Titans will be tough.

Andre Johnson, J.J. Watt named to Pro Bowl

Texans defensive end J.J. Watt and wide receiver Andre Johnson have each been voted to the Pro Bowl.

Watt, 24, is one of the NFL’s best defensive linemen. He’s notched 71 tackles and 9.5 sacks in 15 games for Houston this season. Johnson, 32, has hauled in 103 passes for 1,358 yards and five touchdowns in 2013. He’s exceeded 100 catches for the second time in as many seasons and the fifth time in his career.

With a loss at Tennessee on Sunday, the Texans (2-13) will clinch the No. 1 overall pick — a rather remarkable turn of events, given some of the talent on hand. If the Texans defeat the Titans they can still clinch the No. 1 overall pick if the Redskins defeat or tie the Giants.

Lovie Smith has been interviewed by the Texans already. Bill O'Brien from Penn State is going to interview with Houston tomorrow I believe.
