That's what bothers me - he needs a lot of work. We already have a young guy in Perry that the scouts believe needs to a lot of development to get to the level he's expected to play at. Not sure I want to take on another, especially one that would be asked to replace a starter.

I heard NFLN mention something about TT and blah blah blah while Te'o going through drills but didnt catch exactly what they said.
Well I think they were hoping Perry could transition to that OLB from DE. He certainly was much more bulky than an 3-4 OLB should be and that along with the injury really set back his development.
I wouldn't have expected the kid to be able to move like a LB. might have been better off keeping him as a DE and looking for that help elsewhere.

Question is, do you take a flyer on Te'o if he's there at 26.

Kind of impressed just now when I looked at the two ESPN Insider mocks and they had him going 12th and 20th. I really hope that's the case and he's not even an option for the Pack.

@Bob - I never expected much from Perry in terms of coverage, but I had high hopes for him in terms of rushing and was pretty optimistic about him in the run game. Obviously it's WAY early to call him a bust, as most people believe you need three years before you can evaluate a draft pick. Just seemed odd that scouts were already getting ready to throw in the towel on him and/or calling out Greene for not saying he'd work harder with the kid. (Don't know how much Greene can do for somebody that can't get on the field.)

Perry only played like what 5 games? I'm still having high hopes for him! He seemed to study really hard, so I mean potential.

We'll just have to wait till next year :)

I'm staying optimistic that he'll pan out to be what we need opposite Clay. If I get a chance, I'll try and dig up the articles I was talking about tomorrow.

I saw the headline on the NFL website but didn't bother reading the article since I didn't see any of the best writers mention it. Probably as reliable as the talk that they'd tag Finley last year.

Interview with Finley:

Packers TE Jermichael Finley to me on his future in GB: "The Packers are barely talking to me right now. I know they're just doing it the Packer way and playing it close to the vest."

"I haven't got a call. I haven't got a text asking me to take a pay cut or to restructure my deal at this point--not at all."

Are you open to doing that?

"I'd have to walk for sure, meaning I couldn't take a pay cut. Maybe I'd restructure if it's a deal that I like and it makes sense, but I'm not the guy that's just going to sign anything and let anything pass. I'm not that guy. Other than that, taking a pay cut or restructuring doesn't sound good to me at this time. I like my deal. I start training in Minneapolis tomorrow and I'm more inspired than ever to start next season off right and be the tight end I know I can be. It's all business at the end of the day. I just love what I do."
