Why would the team's RB like a play that doesn't involve them?

That last part isn't very nice. Extremely obvious and inarguable, but not nice.

Huntley is a UFA and isn't very good, so he's gone anyway (plus our 3rd stringer is honestly probably better). Don't have to worry about conflict there long-term.

Roman is gone (his contract is up and I doubt he gets extended), so hopefully that'll help everyone feel better going into next season.

Dobbins isn’t wrong but you can’t say that punching it in from the 2 yard line is a given.
I think QB sneak is more certainty to get a yard than the running back who has to run an extra 5 yards from where the ball is snapped.

You're talking about the exhibition game where the Eagles played a very conservative offensive game? They removed all designed quarterback runs from the call sheet and limited their RPO/zone read game as well, obviously to protect Hurts. They didn’t want him to re-injure that shoulder. You saw this affect them most in the red zone, where his running threat just was not there. They couldn’t go five-wide and run those nasty QB draws, or work any kind of designed stuff with blockers out in front. There was one quarterback sneak and some scrambles, but otherwise Hurts didn’t use his feet...

Plus, Lane Johnson didn't play. He'll be playing next weekend, and we know what happens when he plays 😏
