aguars.com believes free agent WR Harry Douglas would be a "logical target" for the Jags in free agency.
The assertion appears to be based solely on the fact that Douglas' old OC Mike Mularkey is now the head man in Jacksonville. With Douglas likely out of favor in Atlanta following another disappointing campaign and the Jags in need of a total overhaul at receiver, however, it would indeed be a logical fit. A 2008 third-round pick, Douglas has made just 84 career catches. He will not be a hot commodity on the open market.

DAMN GOING AFTER THE BIG GUNS

As a #2, I wouldn't have too much of a problem with it. If they signed a legit #1 as well, then that move makes perfect sense.

I wouldn't mind if Gene took a chance on Brian Quick. WR out of Appalachian State. Measured in at 6'3 1/2, 222 pounds. I'll be keeping an eye on him in the Senior Bowl.

Jaguars DC Mel Tucker says it will be "put up or shut up time" for NT Terrance Knighton and his weight issues in 2012.
GM Gene Smith recently said the same thing, albeit it with more tact. "Pot Roast" has shown flashes of dominance since entering the league as a third-round pick in 2009, but has proven incapable of staying in shape. Playing under the final year of his rookie deal next season, Knighton will likely be playing elsewhere in 2013 if he can't get his conditioning in order.

Jaguars GM Gene Smith and director of player personnel Terry McDonough spent a while talking with Jenkins after practice.

Wouldn't that be something if Gene over looked Janoris Jenkins' off field troubles and simply took a shot on his talent level.

no wonder Brian Quick went to little Appalachian State...

"Quick has only played organized football since his senior year of high school, so he still has a lot of learning to do. Before that, Quick was a point guard, but realized he had a brighter future in football. Still, some things take time to get used to. "

nice little write-up on Quick - http://jacksonville.com/opinion/blog/429812/tania-ganguli/2012-01-25/appalachian-states-brian-quick-hasnt-played-football

Poz had surgery to repair a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder, earlier this month. He is expected to be out until training camp. I wondered what the official injury was. Hopefully he heals up good and quick.

Jaguars MLB Paul Posluszny underwent surgery earlier this month to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
Because the surgery took place so late in the process, Posluszny will likely be sidelined for all OTAs and questionable for the start of training camp. The Jaguars have retained defensive coordinator Mel Tucker, so Posluszny is already comfortable in the scheme. An elite run stopper, "Poz" was one of the primary reasons for Jacksonville's 2011 defensive turnaround.

Jaguars MLB Paul Posluszny has "no doubt" that he will be ready for the start of the 2012 season after undergoing shoulder surgery on January 11.
Posluszny does not consider the procedure to be "major." After having his sling removed in a few weeks, he'll meet with doctors to get a timetable on his return. It sounds like he will be fine for training camp.
