I still want Jadeveon Clowney if we get the first overall pick. Use our first pick in the second round (33rd overall) on the best available quarterback. It's a deep draft class for quarterbacks but a guy like Clowney doesn't come around every draft. The fastest way we're going to compete in 2014 is if we pair up Clowney with Watt. That will give opposing offenses a lot of fits. I'm tired of seeing J.J. Watt double teamed every game, all game, it has to be frustrating for him. He needs to play with another man possessed on that defensive line who is every bit as dominating as he is.

The sad thing is you're probably jynxing your chances of Clowney just by talking about it.

I think you're right, though.

EDIT: Have you no faith in Case? I would consider giving him a full off season.

Like I have for the past few games? I said the Texans would lose to the Raiders and Jaguars. Nobody believed me.

Must not work with your own team.

But what about Case Keenum though. I think you guys should give him a little consideration before drafting a QB in the 1st/2nd.

He's already 0-4 as a starter and will likely play these final five games. That's going to be nine total games, but with our offensive line in shambles and absolutely zero running game it's hard to judge him. He has looked great at times but any type of well schemed blitz can easily rattle him. Case Keenum has been sacked for huge losses of 19 yards, 16 yards and 14 yards. Those are huge negative plays that no quarterback should make.

I'm sure with a healthy Arian Foster back next season even Matt Schaub would look good like he did prior to this season. We still have Schaub under contract and it will cost $10 million of dead money against the salary cap if they release him after June 1. We may as well keep him and see what he can do in 2014, while we draft a quarterback to groom for the future in the second or third round. Keenum will be in the mix but long term wise I'm not sure he's a franchise quarterback.

I still think he's worth a look. He looked like a boss in that game against the Colts. I havn't seen him play since, but I wouldn't hang my hat on his starting record. Your team is not good...The sacks are a little more troublesome, but it's nothing that can't be corrected with the right coaching and some more experience.

IDK just my 2 cents.

I even win some gucci betting on the Raiders over the Texans.
Would have bet on the Jags too but I was broke at the time.

Matt Schaub looked better than Keenum did against the Raiders. He drove them down field, albeit two field goals and that last drive which they failed to score a Touchdown to win. I'm almost relieved the Texans have decided to play Keenum down the stretch. We would probably win a game or two if Schaub started. Especially against the Jaguars on Thursday Night coming up.

I believe the Texans would have beaten the Jaguars last Sunday 17-13 if Schaub had started. And not lost 13-6 with Keenum. He was 18-for-34 passing. Barely completed over 50 % of his passes. He absolutely can not handle a blitz and lost some big yards on some of his sacks like I mentioned. One of them was a 19-yard loss.

There is enough game film on Case Keenum already. NFL teams have adjusted and know what it takes to beat him...
His first few starts he looked amazing and lit the world on fire. But now he must make his own adjustments and hasn't yet.

By starting Case Keenum at quarterback and Ben Tate at running back (broken ribs and sucks), the Texans will assure themselves the number one pick in the draft. If we were to start Matt Schaub and Dennis Johnson, who's quick, fast and an electric undrafted rookie running back out of Arkansas, we'd probably finish the season 5-11 and not 2-14.

Dennis Johnson had 13 carries for 74 yards against the Jaguars (5.7 a carry).
Ben Tate had 7 carries for 1 yard against the Jaguars (0.1 a carry)

Quote
ESPN: Tate (ribs) will continue to be the main running back this week against the Patriots, the Houston Chronicle reports. He gained just one yard on seven carries in Sunday's loss to Jacksonville before being replaced by backup Dennis Johnson. (about 17 hours ago)

I mean come on. Do you think a team who had any interest in winning these final five games would continue to start Keenum and Tate?

A lot of young QB's get beat by the blitz. Have faith my friend.

Schaub is done, he'll go to the Browns or Jags.

It does appear like you're tanking. Hey, it worked for Indi. B)

I'm starting to slowly open my eyes for Teddy Bridgewater but I'm not sold on him yet. I'll wait until the bowl game and combine to have a better feel. I watched him play against the Houston Cougars a few weeks ago on a nationally televised game and he didn't really stand out or wow me all that much. He was an average at best 19-for-29 with 203 passing yards and 0 TD passes in a game Louisville had to come from behind to win 20-13 at home. He also had -20 rushing yards (as in minus 20) because he was sacked quite a few times. A game they were heavily favored to win but the Houston Cougars gave them a challenge to say the least.

Can the kid be fun to watch in the pros? Sure. Is he any better than say Cam Newton or Robert Griffin III? Much less Russell Wilson. I'm doubtful on that. But anyways, that game against South Florida was probably his best game this season. 25-for-29 passing with 344 passing yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs.

The safer choice would be Jadeveon Clowney if we were picking number one.
I wouldn't be upset drafting Teddy Bridgewater but it's a huge risk.

He gets off the snap so freakishly fast. I want opposing offenses to pay when they use two blockers just to slow down Watt.

I'll be keeping a close eye on these three games tomorrow...

New England at Houston: 1:00 PM
Jacksonville at Cleveland: 1:00 PM
Atlanta at Buffalo : 4:05 PM

The Texans play two games in the next five days (Thursday Night at Jacksonville)
