Of our 9 losses... our defense would have won those games.  Our offense was god awful.  When your defense is on the field for 45 minutes a game you have a problem.
Our BIGGEST weak point was offense this year.  There isn't even a question about it.
WR is our top concern.  Not only so that Calvin Johnson lasts, but because that is BY FAR our weakest position.

I agree, the defense actually bailed out the offense by getting stops and field goals when we turned it over in the redzone countless times. Our back end still needs to get better, but we need more help in the TE or WR position.

I guess I wouldn't mind taking CB at 10 but probably would be better off at Evans at 10 since he looks like the most complete WR with the most potential

ok this is going to be a long post so after this I won't be doing bold since it irritates alot of people...

So, alot of you feel we need a WR @ 10th pick in the 1st Round. While I don't fully disagree with that, I simply feel that our need for DBs is a greater need than that of a WR, at least for this pick in the 1st round. Granted there are many variables that go along with what happens in the draft, who falls where, who is left in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, what happens in free agency. But we are talking about the Lions, and until the past few years, their drafts have been mediocre to horrible at best. We have fixed one problem that I feel was holding this team back, that being the majority of the Coaching staff. So, yes, our defense made stops when they needed to keep us in games, and yes our offense failed to convert and execute, but I feel that our offense wasn't lacking due to the lack of a good WR, but more of the lack of execution and the inconsistency of Stafford. Now while I like Stafford as our QB, a lot of people either ignore, or stray from the fact that he doesn't make players around him better. We get a WR with the 1st round, and if Stafford plays again next year like he did this year, then what? I simply feel that for us to win important games, move into playoff contention, or to even dream and hope for a super bowl appearance, we need defense, plain and simple....offense can always be picked up later or within the FA. We also do have to consider the cap for next year, Suh's Contract or if he walks. As I said, alot of variables yet to be seen, but I think a stepping stone would be at least to solidify our defense. I have thought of doing this response for a few days now because I do not want to cause an arguement with fellow Lions fans, merely discuss. And I am sure most of us have been watching and been faithful Lions fans for some time, so I don't feel like its a pissing contest either, when it comes down to it, we would all love to see the Lions succeed, especially before we die, and at least one hopeful thing looks promising, is that they are straying away from what has been done in Lions past and are making good moves and decisions. Hopefully they work and take us to where we want to see the Lions go. Thanks for reading and I'm totally up for discussion. LETS GO LIONS!!!!

I feel as if megatron has another wr to compliment him, his true colors will shine. Hes always double covered and getting hit a lot because no other wr gets the ball. Sorry i'm on a phone but i think we arent utilizing him as well because of the lack of wr

Looking at recent drafts, corners drafted in the first round do not succeed early on (see Dee Milliner @ Jets)
On the flip side, rookie wide receivers have shown that they can be game changers and step into big roles for teams (see Alshon Jeffrey @ Bears)

I would not be opposed to trading up to snag Watkins

Man--I keep thinking about where this team would be if we had best and broyles and Titus young. Probably in the Super Bowl. We're lucky Calvin is still performing at such a high level extending our time to make a run. Our core has gotten a lot stronger--we are a few players--and really a few plays from winning a lot more games.

That being said--my biggest concern is that last year--only twice did I feel like we were really in control of a game. I feel like teams that make playoff runs have more of "those types of games". What costs us games last year wasn't really a lack at any specific position--it was honestly freakish to watch the ways we lost games. It scares me--because what happened last year isn't something you can fix with a draft or a coach--you kind of justt have to pray for Bette r luck.

I don't know, when we made the playoffs it was because we win the close games. The team has it in them. They just have to finish

Yeah I feel you--and honestly I felt like we got screwed out of the game vs New Orleans with that bullshit call on the fumble. We would have returned that fumble for a td--I still remember it. Still though--every game is a flip of the coin--you have got to do everything you can to weigh down your side of the coin.
