GAINESVILLE -- Many people believe the Jaguars will take Florida defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. with the third-overall pick on April 30.
Count Fowler among the group.
The 20-year-old said he would be stunned if the Jaguars don't take him after participating in Florida's pro day Tuesday at The Swamp.
Fowler weighed 265 pounds, up four from February's Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. He displayed elite agility and power in individual drills. The 6-foot-3 Fowler also has a massive wingspan that screams Leo in coach Gus Bradley's scheme. The current starter at Leo, the 6-foot-3, 254-pound Chris Clemons, doesn't have Fowler's size.
Fowler recorded 14.5 sacks in his three seasons at UF. After his pro day, Fowler headed to Jacksonville to meet with the Jaguars. He made it clear he expects to be a Jaguar.
"I'd be stunned, because of the scheme that coach Gus has," Fowler said. "I can set the edge and I can come off the edge. I'd be surprised, but that that's how the draft goes. I'm just happy I'll be drafted on the first day."
