I gotta say, I did not see the cowboys being the best team in Texas this year...both our teams have been giving away games this year.

I heard the roof at Reliant Stadium is going to be open tomorrow night. They usually have it closed for louder noise. Let me guess... NBC somehow wants their aerial blimp shot for Sunday Night Football? No rain is expected and it will probably be close to 65 degrees by kick off. I guess you can't complain with some nice weather. I've been waiting two weeks for this game.

Roof was open and let me tell you it was still pretty fucking loud in there.

Arian Foster's injury bug has hurt us the most this season. If he had been healthy we could likely have beaten the Chiefs and Colts and at worse been 4-4 right now. Not having him in those nailbiting losses was huge for the opponents. He adds that extra element to our offense and is a threat both in the run and passing game. He's also great at picking up the blitz which we surely needed against the Chiefs on the road more so than the Colts at home. And Case Keenum still played exceptionally well in both games. At this point I would put Arian Foster on IR. Relax these last eight games and come back 100 % in 2014.

It sure was loud in the first half when the Texans had a 21-3 lead. You could hear a pin drop all throughout the second half and especially in that fourth quarter. It was almost identical to the Seahawks game. We blew a 20-3 halftime lead in that game. There are no excuses to blow a three-score lead at home and we've done it twice this year. I'm so sick and disappointed with this 2-6 team.

Now watch us win some meaningless games and ruin our draft positioning while finishing 7-9 or 6-10. But you never know. We finished 6-10 in 2010 and I was upset we blew our chance at a top five pick or even top ten pick that year. We ended up with J.J. Watt. Sometimes a great player can still fall to you outside the top 10. So that being said, like Herm Edwards used to say, "You play to win the game! That's the great thing about sports. Even if you don't have any wins you go out there and try to win."

I just stomached a 51-111 season by the 2013 Astros. I can stomach another 6-10 season by the Texans. We'll be back as a playoff contender in 2014. In the meantime, at least I have the Rockets I can enjoy. That will probably carry me to late May or early June. By then the 2014 NFL season will be around the corner.

From the Houston Chronicle...

Quote
In light of Randy Bullock missing three field goals in Sunday night’s 27-24 loss to Indianapolis, the Texans are bringing in three kickers for tryouts on Tuesday, including two who have kicked for them in the past. Neil Rackers, Shayne Graham and Justin Medlock are coming to the Methodist Training Center to kick for the Texans during this tryout.

It doesn’t mean Bullock will lose his job, but it does mean he’s being put on notice for his inconsistent performance.

Bullock, a fifth-round pick in 2012, spent his rookie season on injured reserve while Graham was scoring 138 points, including 31-of-38 field goals. Bullock is 13-of-21 in 2013. Rackers kicked for the Texans in 2010 and 2011. Medlock kicked for Carolina last season.

Sadly, I think all of three of these guys would be an upgrade over Randy Bullock. I still can't believe he missed three field goals last night in a game we lost by three points. That to me sticks out more than the defense falling apart in the fourth quarter. I'd rather sign that kickalicious guy and youtube sensation, Havard Rugland. He's still listed as a free agent after the Lions released him and he failed to make the Packers opening day roster.

Our playoff chances at 2-6 are pretty dismal. Only one NFL team has started 2-6 and made the NFL playoffs (1970 Bengals). But the next three games are against the Cardinals, Raiders and Jaguars. If somehow they could win all three games and reach 5-6, I do know that quite a few 5-6 teams have made the playoffs. At that point it would seem more realistic. No NFL team has made the playoffs starting 2-7 so if they lose to the Cardinals the 2013 season is definitely over.

That makes me sad thinking about. Just with a more reliable kicker we would have won those home games against the Seahawks and Colts. Or even with Arian Foster just being healthy we may have also won that Chiefs game on the road. It just hasn't been our year. Hopefully we can put this bad 2013 season behind us and come out as a strong playoff contender in 2014. We should still try and win every game left this season. The next three games are winnable games if Case Keenum continues to play well.

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak suffered what is called a TIA, per source. —a transient ischemic attack. Referred to as a mini-stroke. He will be released from the hospital later today. No word as to when he will return to the team. Wade Phillips will become the interim head coach for as long as it takes.

There were some rumors of Gary Kubiak being fired after this season with the way this season is going (2-6), but he was calling some great plays and utilizing Case Keenum's strength in only a few weeks of practice. It was fun watching the Texans play the last two games even though they came up short. I'd like to see what Kubiak and Keenum can do long term.

This season may be a lost cause but there is still half a season left and Case Keenum can end the 2013 season with ten valuable starts.

Game 1 at Kansas City: 15-for-25 with 271 passing yards. 1 TD and 0 INT. (110.6 QB rating)
Game 2 vs. Indianapolis: 20-for-34 with 350 passing yards. 3 TDs and 0 INT. (123.4 QB rating)

He's showing some good signs and improvement in such a short time. He throws deep a lot also. So it's not like he's dink and dunking (short passes under 10 yards), throwing for a higher completion percentage like say Matt Schaub would do. He's made some big plays already, completing passes over 30 and 40 yards.

If we had a healthy Arian Foster (he left the last two games early in the first quarter), I think Case Keenum would play even better.

I'm ready for Sunday's game at Arizona. It's going to be a 3:25 PM central time kick off on CBS.

Well it was good knowing you all... Living in Idaho have not been able to watch a texans game in person yet. But...

I will be an Official Texan Fan, Making my way down to Salt Lake City Sunday early morning, Catch a flight to Arizona. Head to University of Phoenix Stadium. Watching the game, stay the night and head back home for classes on Tuesday. Hope to get a win.

It has been a rough season, but to be a Fan is TO BE A FAN... Love the Texans Through and Through..

P.S. I am not happy about the decision on the Astro Dome... But being a person that has never lived or been to houston what do you all think about all that stuff?

The Texans are 2-6 but I would still hold out a little hope. They can definitely win their next games against the Cardinals, Raiders and Jaguars, especially if they play hard for a full 60 minutes like they did in the last two games against the Colts and Chiefs. If they can reach 5-6 the last wild-card spot in the AFC will be within reach. The only problem is the Texans still have two home games left against the Broncos and Patriots, and a road game against the Colts, a place they are 0-11 all time.

So we may not finish any better than 7-9 in 2013 but crazier things have happened before. It just sucks we lost by a combined 4 points to the Colts and Chiefs, two playoff teams. Which tells me we should be a playoff contender again in 2014 if we have a good draft and Case Keenum continues to play like the next Drew Brees. Having a healthy Arian Foster would help tremendously. I would shut him down the rest of this season and have him come back 100 % next season. It's obvious he was never healthy since training camp. The heavy workload in 2012 (351 carries) took a toll on his body.

I'll miss the Astrodome. I attended the last Astros game played there during the 1999 playoffs against the Braves. I would have rather seen it turned into a giant convention and event center as oppose to being destroyed. The Texas voters just weren't going to shell out that $217 million.

The only bright side is it will no longer be a rotting place to stare at. There will be tons of extra parking space for Reliant Stadium and maybe they can eventually create some type of building there: Hotel or what have you. But the sad thing is it's still going to cost around $50 million just to destroy the Astrodome. That's a costly price to pay for so much history being blown up but something had to be done.

The Astrodome's reputation kept going downhill when the late Bud Adams moved the Oilers to Tennessee prior to the 1997 season. At that point the Astros were already making plans for a new stadium. I sort of blame Bud Adams for the fallout but what can you do? He's now six feet under and soon the Astrodome will be also.

It was a great stadium but not a historic one like say, Wrigley Field in Chicago or Fenway Park in Boston. Keeping it around would seem pointless when there are no professional teams to play in it. The Astrodome was not hosting any college or high school football games anymore. Reliant Stadium was getting all of the action. The last big event the Astrodome held wasn't even sports related. It was sheltering Hurricane Katrina victims from New Orleans back in 2005.
