last week's game wasn't even on schaub.

it was the entire offense, the defense, special team, every thing. honestly, i think it's the coaching, wade phillips too(worst RZ defense in the league).

i said yesterday the season is over. we still have a small chance, and as much as i want to believe we will win, i dont see it. however, if we do lose to the chiefs next week, the season is really over. kubiak and phillips need to come up with their biggest gameplan of their career if they want to stay in houston.

I want to believe, too, but we don't have any answers at QB this season.

Stranger things have happened though. Texans were a 7.5-point favorite at home and got smashed by the Rams. Chiefs are a 6.5-point favorite at home. I doubt we will beat them, but it wouldn't be shocking to pull off an upset if we can limit the turnovers and play hard for 60 minutes.

The last time and only time the Texans played at Kansas City in the regular season, they pulled off a stunning 24-21 upset win despite being 10.5-point underdogs. So Houston still has that "1-0 all-time record at Arrowhead Stadium."

http://espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=240926012

David Carr hooked up with a couple of deep pass plays to a young Andre Johnson. Both the Texans and Chiefs went 7-9 that year. The Chiefs are obviously way better record wise now, 6-0 already. It would be a lot more surprising to knock them off as an undefeated team.

But point being, we've been to Arrowhead Stadium before as bigger underdogs and with less talent, and still found a way to win at the largest and loudest stadium in the NFL. I expect the Texans to get spanked 45-6 by the Chiefs on Sunday. I'm sure I thought the same thing the last time they played at Kansas City.

Whatever it takes to pull off the upset win at Kansas City. The Texans better be ready to play their best game, because if they aren't it's going to be our worst loss since Peyton Manning and the Colts destroyed us 49-14 at Indianapolis back in 2004.

I agree, you guys have a lot more problems than just who's at QB.

O-line is bad, gave up 17 sacks in 6 games...
Receivers fumbling balls in the red zone. Penalties killing them.
Defense is a big problem. You guys used to stop the run great, but now you're like 29th in the league or something, and let some no-name rookie for the Rams carry the ball with an average 4.4YPC or some shit.
Can't force turnovers. Texans D only has 2 INTs I think. Need to get to the QB.

I dunno how to fix it honestly. Just overall execution and bad coaching...

The pass rush isn't there anymore. Long gone are the days of Mario Williams. DeMeco Ryans and even Connor Barwin. Teams have two guys blocking J.J. Watt and his broken and bloody nose. Antonio "The Ninja" Smith and Earl Mitchell aren't doing jack right now. Our four starting linebackers, with the exception of Brian Cushing, haven't been consistently good every game.

Brooks Reed has fallen off a map and Whitney Mercilus has played well in spurts. Joe Mays couldn't cover his grandmother riding in a wheelchair much less any tight end in the NFL. We need our front seven pass rush to come alive or else we're screwed. Even our run defense has been pretty bad lately. Zac Stacy ate us alive with some hard runs last game. A lot of them being first-down runs.

But the turnovers are the main thing killing the Texans. If they can win the turnover battle, maybe they'll have a chance to keep the game close and win.

Another electric quarterback that I like (sophomore), Marcus Mariota from Oregon. He has the size, arm and athleticism.

Imagine this kid running our offense? I'd be excited to watch the Texans again.

Good article comparing him to Johnny Manziel.

http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/72306/whos-no-1-manziel-or-mariota

Our boy Mariota is No. 1. Manziel is No. 6.

Mariota has 17 touchdown passes. Manziel has 14. Mariota has zero interceptions (no turnovers, in fact). Manziel has five.

Manziel is slippery. He slipped his way to 438 rushing yards, which beats Mariota by 12. Of course, Mariota averages 10.4 yards per carry compared to 6.5 for Manziel. And Mariota has eight touchdown runs compared to five for Manziel.

Heck, if we just went bottom line with points accounted for, Mariota has 150 compared to 114 for Manziel.

Oh, and Mariota is 6-foot-4 and a sure NFL first-round draft pick. Manziel is 6-1 if you are measuring him while he stands on his tippy toes.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1812342-oregon-qb-marcus-mariota-will-decide-nfl-future-after-2013-season?share=digg

Through six games this season, Mariota has a quarterback rating of 182.37 (fifth in the nation), 2,150 total yards, 25 total touchdowns and zero interceptions. That efficiency has helped Oregon to a 6-0 record this year and a consensus No. 2 ranking in the country. So right now, he would like to focus on helping the Ducks reach their team goals instead of himself reach his personal ones.

No idea if he'll go pro in the 2014 NFL Draft yet though. But I can't imagine he doesn't if he continues to shine this season.

Really hope he enters if we end up with a bad record. If not, I guess we can draft Johnny Manziel, Aaron Murray or AJ McCarron.

But sigh, back to reality (as in this season): No idea who will start for us on Sunday at Kansas City. I hope it's Case Keenum and not T.J. Yates.

Matt Schaub did not practice today and Case Keenum and T.J. Yates split reps with the first-team offense.

"I believe in both of them," coach Gary Kubiak said, via the Houston Chronice. "They both understand our offense."

I'd rather see Case Keenum start. Let's see what the kid can do in a hostile environment. Arrowhead Stadium is the largest and loudest in the entire NFL. If he can manage to play well under those type of difficult conditions that should only benefit him moving forward.

We already know T.J. Yates doesn't offer a whole lot. It would be nice to take a good look at Keenum before the bye week.

Yeah, we already know TJ Yates is a poor man's Schaub, why not roll the dice with Keenum this week?

If Keenum struggles and Schaub is still hurt, they have two weeks to make roster changes and maybe bring in Vince Young or somebody before their next game. Going into the bye week is the perfect time to sign a free agent quarterback if it comes down to that. After the Chiefs game on Sunday the Texans will not play again until November 3. And that's a Sunday Night home game on NBC against the Colts. But from what I understand Schaub's injury isn't serious and he should only miss this one game against the Chiefs.
