Owen Daniels to be out for at least 8 weeks

Ya man seriously lol.
During Mondays conference "kubes" (as he was referred to by one of the reporters lol) didn't seem worried or concerned at all about him. Now the MRIs have him out for 8 weeks.

I have faith in the rook though he's taller than both OD and GG so if Schaub can put the ball up there for him he can pull it in.

He's not as good as he was in his younger days. The separation just isn't there anymore. He still has good hands and it will hurt our red-zone offense though. 3 TDs in 5 games. But I'm confident our young tight ends like Garrett Graham and Ryan Griffin will step up and play well.

I remember before Owen Daniels' first major injury (ACL) in 2009 when he was a total beast who could take over a game, and that was highlighted with a sweet one-handed TD catch against the Bengals on the road. At that time you could argue he was a top 5 tight end in the game. But that's not the case anymore. People in my fantasy league barely had him valued in the top 15 entering the season.

If not for his season-ending injury in 2009 we probably would have made the playoffs that year. We were 5-3 at the time but struggled without him. This time around I just don't see his loss hurting us as much. We have the #1 ranked defense in the league, an excellent running game on offense with two of the better backs in the league, and an offensive line which is now getting healthy again.

This still comes down to #8 Matt Schaub being able to play a lot better and making the right decisions. Ironically enough, I'd even argue that not having Owen Daniels is a good thing for Schaub moving forward this season. He was targeting Daniels way too much and forcing throws when Daniels wasn't even open. That was leading to numerous interceptions and some of those pick six's.

I'm more concerned with our incredibly poor special teams play, outside of Shane Lechler's amazing punting, than I am with losing Owen Daniels for 8 games. We are not getting any return game at all. It's time to replace Keshawn Martin. I've never seen a worse returner in my life. And Randy Bullock is still missing field goals.

I'm not sure if the Texans will re-sign Owen Daniels when he becomes a free agent after 2014. He'll be too pricey for the average player he is now. This isn't the same three-time pro bowler from the past. They will probably look to cut him after June 1. He's still making $4 million this year and $4.5 million in 2014 next year. Unless the plan is to let Matt Schaub go, saving $10 million in 2014, that's the next highest-paid player.

The Texans once released Eric Winston, a beast of a right tackle, just to clear that type of cap space. And now we're stuck with crappy Derek Newton starting at right tackle. Only thing we're going to miss without Owen Daniels is his good blocking but Ryan Griffin is bigger and stronger. Not to mention a lot younger.

The Texans can do a lot of good if they have the cap space to make moves. We haven't signed a good free agent in a long time.

Correction: We haven't signed a good free agent that was in his prime since Johnathan Joseph. Ed Reed, Greg Jones and Shane Lechler are all old and past their prime. Lechler is the only one still performing at a pro bowl level out of the three. Sadly, he's been punting the ball a lot this season.

The lucky camel to end our three-game losing streak tomorrow.

It's hard to believe that we have to beat the Rams at home just to reach 3-3. How sad can things be? LOL

I don't want to complain though. From 2002 to 2010, we were usually 0-6, 1-5 or 2-4 after 6 games.

If the Texans can win tomorrow that sets up the big game at Kansas City next Sunday. A win in that game and all of a sudden people will start to believe again at 4-3 going into the bye week. Then they would have two weeks to prepare for the Colts game at home. Win that game and at 5-3 they'll be back in the AFC South division race halfway through the season. It's possible if Matt Schaub plays better. The defense is ranked #1 in the league. The run game is coming alive. Special teams is weak but we can manage.

Time to beat the Rams and save our season. At 3-3, we'll barely be in the AFC playoff picture.
A loss and at 2-4 our chances to make the playoffs would be slim to none.
