Cierre Wood, had 19 carries for 107 rushing yards on Saturday NightFour undrafted rookies have made the Texans 53-man roster. Running back Cierre Wood, outside linebacker Willie Jefferson, linebacker Justin Tuggle and cornerback A.J. Bouye. They all played well last night during the 24-6 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
“I believe I can play this game with the best of them. I just need my chance,” said Wood, who played college ball at Notre Dame. “These games are put here in front of me to showcase my talents to (the) world. Not just this team but the other 31 teams out there.”
It looks like Cierre Wood won the third-string RB spot after Arian Foster and Ben Tate. He beat out fellow undrafted rookie RB Dennis Johnson, who will likely be placed on the Texans' practice squad sometime on Saturday once he successfully clears waivers. It's a nice problem to have. A lot of good options at running back on the depth chart. Don't forget that Arian Foster was once in this position. Undrafted and he even spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad.
