This is the deepest the Texans have ever been at WR, TE, RB and offensive line. Not to mention overall on defense.
If we fail to win the Super Bowl it's going to fall all on the quarterback play, along with Gary Kubiak as head coach.

New Monday Night Football commercial. One of the best that I've seen in years.

Texans versus Dolphins tonight. Brian Cushing's first game back since he tore his ACL back in Week 5 last season against the Jets. I think playing a decent Dolphins offense tonight and a good Saints offense next week (starters playing 3 quarters) will be a good tune up for the regular season. The final pre-season game against the Cowboys in two weeks will be a bunch of backups playing and sort of boring to watch.

Antonio Smith was suspended the final two pre-season games and the first regular-season game at San Diego on Monday Night. He's appealing the suspension but I don't think that's going to do any good. He clearly took a swing at Incognito's head after he pulled off his helmet. I guess second-year player Jared Crick may start the first game.

This really hurts us in that first game. San Diego has a pretty good offense and "The Ninja" is our second best defensive lineman. When you play a 3-4 defense you can't really afford to lose a player of his caliber up front. He had picked up a sack on Ryan Tannehill not long before that incident happened. I was expecting a big season out of him and now he may miss the first game.

Texans hope Antonio Smith's suspension will be reduced

The Houston Texans are bracing for the absence of defensive end Antonio Smith in the regular-season opener while holding out hope his suspension could be reduced on appeal, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the NFL hadn't announced the suspension, which is expected to cover the Texans' two remaining preseason games as well as the Monday night opener against the Chargers in San Diego.

Smith, 31, was caught on tape pulling the helmet off Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito's head and then swinging it at Incognito's face during the Texans' preseason victory on Saturday.

If Antonio Smith had connected to Richie Incognito's face, that could have done some serious damage and warranted a much longer suspension.

Richie Incognito cost Antonio Smith one regular-season game but D.J. Swearinger (legal hit) cost Dustin Keller an entire season and maybe longer given the extent of all of his injuries. I just can't believe all of the bad blood between the two teams. Just glad that pre-season game ended. What a mess it was.

But wow, those new allegations about Richie Incongnito knocking out a security guard with one punch. I'm kind of thinking it would have been justified karma if Antonio Smith connected with that helmet swing at his face (that guy deserves it), but thankfully Smith pulled it back enough at the last second or else he would have gotten a six-game suspension.

I'm just ready for the Texans versus Saints game on Sunday. A nationally televised game on FOX at 4 PM eastern. Everybody can see it.
This is supposed to be the best pre-season game of them all. The starters will play most of the game. Also Arian Foster is back.
