DeAndre Hopkins hauls in a 34-yard TD catch from T.J. Yates

Those hands. He can catch one handed with ease. He needs to become a go-to guy right away. Let him make big plays down the field. In the first quarter, Matt Schaub threw a couple of quick screens to Hopkins on the side line for small gains which baffled me.

I didn't understand the conservative playcalling while Schaub was in the game. Yeah, he went 5-for-5 passing for 34 measly yards because they were all short passes. A couple of short screen passes to DeAndre Hopkins and Ben Tate. That's not going to win us a Lombardi Trophy.

In the next game, I want to see Matt Schaub airing it out. He should be completing passes over 20 or 30 yards in one pass.

If we realistically want to make a run this year, we really need to him to start producing immediately.

We've been looking for a solid #2 behind Andre for a long time. I hope we've finally found him.

I would like to see the predictable Texans offense airing it out on Saturday Night against the Dolphins. Even mix things up and use some shotgun formations and more 4 WR sets. The pre-season is the time to work on anything you want but somehow they keep running the same boring play-action and bootleg plays. Typical Gary Kubiak coaching. We already know our running game is good. We already know we can play conservatively. We already know we're good in 2 TE formations and occasionally use 3 WR sets.

But that being said, I hope Ray Graham makes the team as the third-string running back. With Ben Tate always getting hurt that would probably mean being the backup. He went undrafted but so did Arian Foster out of Tennessee back in 2009. Ray Graham's career at Pittsburgh was highly productive. He was one of the most durable backs in college football the past three years. His body isn't made of glass which is what I like.

The Texans have a nationally televised game on Fox (August 25) against the Saints in two weeks. That's the game the starters play into the second half.

I would like to see us run 4 WRs set more. Andre Johnson, Deandre Hopkins, Lestar Jean(becoming somewhat a threat), and Keshawn Martin. That could be a deadly offense, especially if Martin can stop dropping easy catches. Just wish Schaub had the arm of Stafford lol.

Saturday's game against the Dolphins will also be Brian Cushing's first game back since he tore his ACL Week 5 against the Jets last season.
