He had leg/ankle injuries all last year and honestly I'd rather bring in younger guys regardless. Forsett isn't close to anything special.

He's not special, but he's good. His experience has given him a keen eye for cutting through gaps as they appear and identifying who to block in pass pro

Well yeah, I'd rather have Shoelace, but still Forsett was a nice pickup for us.

Win win. That doesn't happen often.

He's a legit pass protector. Did you see him pick up that oversized LB (might have been a lineman, can't remember) today?

Pierce has looked like shit in Kubiak's offense. Taliaferro is a rookie and whatnot, but aside from his physical ability he hasn't been spectacular. He has four or five TD's because he can destroy the defender in front of him in short yardage, not because he's a product of the system or particularly effective beyond that.

Forsett isn't gifted, but he has great instincts. He's neither fast nor powerful but he knows were to hit it and who to pick up in blitzes. I'll take savvy over raw physical ability anyday, and he's playing at a pro bowl level for us.

True, and we have probably the best duo at guard in the league

But he isn't just some average RB. He is heads and shoulders better than Bernard Pierce lol

Pierce has never been any good and Forsett is a 8th year Vet. I'd hope he'd know who to pick up on blitzes, otherwise he probably still wouldn't be around.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to dog out Forsett, but honestly he isn't anything close to special. He's what you call a stop gap player. There's a reason why he has bounced around multiple different teams.

He's average at the least, but he isn't close to great by any means. We kept him on our team last season despite the injuries because he's a great Vet player and a benefit to any locker room, let alone a RB room.

I'm usually against taking a RB in the first, but if Gurley or Gordon are sitting there, I might have to ignore our dire need at WR and CB and pray for one of them

Gordon would be so damn good in this ZBS (if Kubiak is even still around as our OC)

Pierce was a stud #2 in our SB year. I think he had better numbers per attempt than Ray Rice IIRC.

Obviously Forsett is nobody's franchise at halfback, but he's a solid player for now, and probably even a better mentor in the next few years for whoever we go with long term.

IDK man, RB's are pretty easy to come by (relatively, anyway). I think CB is a much bigger need. We really have NOBODY outside Jimmy Smith.

I wouldn't be too upset with Gurley, though. B)
