cause the family cant live off of 5 million dollars lol
If you think they live the same lifestyle as normal people, you're delusional.
And most of the nfl players aren't doing it for just passion but it's also business for them as well. It's how they make their income.

I think their point was that at the end of the day, you have to take care of yourself and your family.
Their bottom line is that nfl organization doesn't care about their players but only their abilities. Sure the ring is nice but in terms of monetary value (excluding endorsement ofc) it's about 150k total if you win the super bowl (this is including all the games included). Player like Tate or Bennett aren't the type to get endorsement either since they don't stand out that much either. So they were saying that the extra 2-3+ millions might be worth it since there is no guarantee that Seahawks are going to win another ring.
To give you an life example...
If you're working at a company (and working hard/performing well, in fact, you landed a huge deal for your company) and you're paid 40k a year (and your family can live off that fine) and when it's time to give out pay raise, they won't give it to you since you should be loyal to the company. While another company is offering 60-70k a year for the same exact job and position you're in and they offer that job to you.
You're tell me, that it would be crazy for this worker to take that job?
