I think Tate is right... He rather have fun then get paid a little more. I mean would you rather be on a shitty team and get paid more or have chances to win championships and still make 7 figures. Players Like Tate are thinking about the team first unlike Bennett who is trying to get as much as he can. How is what Tate said any different than Tom Brady taking a pay cut to help the team out?
I also see Russel Wilson doing what Tate did and not take max contract to help keep as much of the team together as possible
I think their point was that at the end of the day, you have to take care of yourself and your family.
Their bottom line is that nfl organization doesn't care about their players but only their abilities. Sure the ring is nice but in terms of monetary value (excluding endorsement ofc) it's about 150k total if you win the super bowl (this is including all the games included). Player like Tate or Bennett aren't the type to get endorsement either since they don't stand out that much either. So they were saying that the extra 2-3+ millions might be worth it since there is no guarantee that Seahawks are going to win another ring.
