Quote (SVP)
“For months, out of respect to the University of Maryland which has been apart of my life my entire life and a process that was ongoing, I have chosen my words very carefully when I’ve said anything at all. That time is at an end because I was hoping they’d get it right. But that didn’t work out,” Van Pelt said. “At each step of the way, from the moment Jordan McNair to the Board of Regents closing decision, Maryland has demonstrated the remarkably consistent ability to do the wrong thing at each step. The most tone deaf crisis management imaginable. As leadership, or the lack thereof, it’s hard to fathom how it could be bungled more completely. The scene that has played out over the past 72 hours in the wake of the Board of Regents’ decision to reinstate DJ Durkin, followed by the firing the very next day by president Wallace Loh has simply been the next embarrassing chapter in a story seemingly without end.”

It's honestly kind of amazing how thoroughly the institution fucked up this entire thing. Just shows how disconnected everyone was from the public/reality.

It's going to take years for MD athletics to recover from this. All of the UA money and revamped training facilities will help mitigate some damage, but recruiting is definitely going to take a hit.

I wonder if they will consider bringing back Mike Locksley (currently OC at Alabama). I thought his offensive scheme was terribly vanilla and uncreative, but he's got history with the organization and excels at local recruiting. Greg Schiano might also be interesting, since he had success at a similar school in Rutgers.

Keep in mind we're something like $200MM in debt still over Cole and I bet there's gonna be an exodus of boosters after this shit too.

And yeah i liked Locksley and he was always good at recruiting. SVP mentioned in the article above the idea of Gary for AD. That'd be awesome for my nostalgia lol.

Sort of a rivalry game today vs. PSU. We have to win to become bowl eligible.

I know it didn't really matter, but opting for the missed kick instead of trying for a TD seemed so dumb. Leaves a bad impression on Canada as they decide what to do with the HC situation in the off-season.
