we have a hard ass scheadule wtf
I actually think it looks pretty reasonable compared to some past years. Some of the tough games they play are at home which gives them a better chance to win. And while I think it will be difficult to beat the 49ers, Ravens, Chargers and Colts on the road, I think they'll surprise us and win a few games you don't expect them to win.
I really want to see the Texans beat the Colts for the first time ever on the road. They are an embarrassing 0-11 at Indianapolis all time. The law of averages says a team can't beat you forever. Just the way we played down the stretch last season (final month) and in the playoffs -- we looked like one of the worst teams in the league on both sides of the ball -- that means we have a lot to prove this season.
No Texans pre-season game on my birthday this year.
Also this is the last year I'm backing Matt Schaub. If he doesn't get it done I want him gone before the start of the 2014 season. Gary Kubiak can go along with them if that's the case. Head coach and quarterback are essential to overall team success. I remember when we went 2-14 in 2005. The Saints were just as pathetic and bad as we were. But they brought in Sean Payton from Dallas and Drew Brees from San Diego -- won a Super Bowl and have made numerous playoff appearances since.
We brought in Gary Kubiak from Denver and traded two second-round picks to Atlanta for Matt Schaub. All it has gotten us is two wild-card wins over the Bengals in those six years. So I'm not the least bit happy with that. Especially with a team that had 8 total pro bowlers last year and signed two future Hall of Famers this off-seaosn in Ed Reed and Shane Lechler. Not to mention one of the best blocking fullbacks in the game in Greg Jones.
If Houston can't get it done in 2013 and in the playoffs, it's time to make major changes.
It almost seems like I've wasted the past 11 years of my life watching this team come up short, time and time again. It took way too long just to make the playoffs. Now we've been treated to a couple measly wild-card wins over "Da Bungles." Not good enough.
