I have the ninja, after 17k miles I blew the spark plug right out of the head of the motor. A fairly cheap fix ($140 heli coil) but still shouldn't have happened imo. Go with the R6.

Use this advice. Wise beyond his years.

PM Ewok, he has a crotch rocket or two.

Didnt even read this lol, I just skipped and posted

I've had both.
Ninja is more bottom heavy (feels like it wants to fall over when leaning [WILL fall easily at low speed turns, most will though])
R6 is more top heavy, very easy to lean and it makes it feel like it wants to stand back up (like those sand bag plastic punching bags)
the Ninja has better acceleration and can get off of a stop quicker, but the R6 will give you smoother transistions between the gears and a smoother comfortable ride.
I have a CBR1000 now, but the R6 (or R1) will always be a bike I respect and would go back to.

Rowe told me to take a pic before once I got the ninja.

Not my helmet-

Two brothers exhaust is one thing I will get on every bike. I've rode the bike for numerous hours in a row and the exhaust pipe is still cold (the girls wont get burned either)
I have a Zero Gravity wind shield on both the R6 and CBR1000

Also, be safe.. I can't stress this enough. Always wear a DOT helmet, jeans, knucklepadded gloves, a preferably a military padded jacket.
Sometimes I go out wearing like sweatpants and a tshirt (to like the gym) but it's always a gamble, and most times its not for the good. (I always wear a full faced helmet though and gloves)
Make sure you have proper leverage as well, you should get boots or something if you aren't very tall. My bikes have all been lowered about 1-2" to give me the most comfortable position.
Realize that you aren't always going to put your feet down in the best spots so you need to have good leverage to catch your balance. (Don't put feet down on the yellow lines while it's raining and be very cautious on gravel, seen many friends eat it by slipping)
Imagine every single driver on the road is mentally handicapped (no offense), and imagine they are going to do the most bizarre route or move in the road. Always have a plan of what you would do to avoid it (be stopping or speeding up, preferably)

Go with the R6. Here is a pic of the one I had.

I sold it though after a good friend of mine got into a bad accident. I've thought about getting a new one though but I'm not sure if I want to get a cruiser or sport bike. I think I'm going to try Honda out next and go with the cbr 1k like Ewok.

Edit: Stuartg was up visiting for the week and brought his home with him, pictured in the background by my garage.

if you want a beginner bike, why not get a 250?

I outgrew the 600 in a few months.
But I would still recommend a 600, it's still awesome.
