Define the metric then. Fantasy points are pretty good way to measure production.
I’m not really looking to place a bet on this. I think people are hyping up Fields because of the success of guys like hurts and lj8, but fields is not necessarily them and his team is much further behind than theirs were when they broke out.
I could be wrong, but I look at fields and I see a talented ball carrier and below average passer. I don’t really think his RB room took a step forward. I like Khalil Herbert but I don’t think he’s a 20+ touch a game guy for a full season, and I think David Montgomery did a lot of the dirty work that allowed Herbert to thrive. Montgomery is a flat out better back than Foreman, although Roschon Johnson was a great pick for them so we’ll see how much he is able to contribute this season.
He does have a better WR room this year, so we’ll see if he is actually able to get through his progressions and make on schedule throws consistently this season. I also think his line has a lot of question marks, though in theory it should be better than last season.
He could definitely break out this year, I do expect him to get better, but I definitely am not as high on him as many of the analysts seem to be.
I’ve seen many people confidently placing fields as the best QB in the NFCN, which is preposterous because he was the worst in the north last season. What has he done to earn the confidence that he’ll be better than Cousins, let alone Goff this season?
