I see what you're saying, but I still don't agree with having to step up like that when anything underneath doesn't hurt you since Seahawks had 0 timeouts and only 13 seconds left. Plus we had plenty of help underneath and across the middle.
Harmon is covering that area before the snap and Chung is indeed covering the flat. Thought he should of been less aggressive and made sure nothing goes into the endzone. Let him make that catch underneath and make the tackle. So he too is at blame imo.
Maybe it's just how I see it..overall a very poor defensive effort by the entire defense. Everyone to blame.
Chung cheats up a couple steps as the RB starts to leave the back field. At that point you don't know if the RB is going inside, or outside. He went outside, which is why Chung then stepped back.
The reason why I think Chung played it right is because if #22 of the Hawks breaks outside, instead of cutting inside, there's a couple different things that could happen.
He makes the catch, gains a few yards and could get out of bounds to stop the clock.
Or, he makes the catch, but Chung cheating up a couple steps puts him in the right place to make the tackle while the RB is still in bounds. Time would then run out.
Or, he drops it and they get one more down.
You guys did have plenty of people underneath and across the middle, which is why I think #30 of the Pats was suppose to pass his guy off and help Chung over the top as Baldwin came across. Still could have been a TD, but probably a harder one to convert.
Either way, without seeing the All-22 and obviously we'll never really know the actual play call on Defense. It was a nice play by Wilson and Baldwin.
