It was clearly a Zone Defense imo and Chung was covering his Zone.
He started the play at the 11 yard line, dropped a tiny bit, but jumped back up into his Zone. He stayed at home in his Zone covering the flat (if you watch the play you can clearly see #22 of the Hawks go up field, but turn inside at the last second. Chung played it right by stepping up to cover it). He never entered the endzone, or even got close.
It simply looked like the Offensive play call (and the make shift play by Wilson) just flat out beat the Defensive play call. Chung had to cover the flat on his side. He played it right on that play. The great freelancing of Baldwin and Wilson made the play there imo. With a little miscommunication on the Zone pass off between the Pats defenders.
Chung is not at fault on that play at all imo. It looks like #30 should have broke off of his receiver and stayed in his Zone, which he would have been in place to help cover Baldwin over the top.
I see what you're saying, but I still don't agree with having to step up like that when anything underneath doesn't hurt you since Seahawks had 0 timeouts and only 13 seconds left. Plus we had plenty of help underneath and across the middle.
Harmon is covering that area before the snap and Chung is indeed covering the flat. Thought he should of been less aggressive and made sure nothing goes into the endzone. Let him make that catch underneath and make the tackle. So he too is at blame imo.
Maybe it's just how I see it..overall a very poor defensive effort by the entire defense. Everyone to blame.
