Damn I miss those days.

Made lazy man's leveling even easier. I rarely even had to pay for gubers and had my own baal follow bot. Was so convenient and then the banhammer and patching rekt us

I only ever used an mf bot. I had a lot of fun with those. I had 4 of them running in a windows 8 vm on virtual box in class one year, and some d2 nerd tapped me on my shoulder and asked about it. I just wanna relive d2 in its prime.

I feel like they are patching it to see if its worth it to rerelease like Age of Empires was in HD. Imagine a new HD release of D2 where bots arent as big with better graphics and better servers? Shit would be amazing.

Its just a feeling I have though.

I have to wonder how they would re-do D2 if they remastered it. They would have to use modern Bnet, possibly reorganize the realms (merge all of the unpopular, dying realms into one), use battle-tags (which would hopefully eliminate all that stupid as fuck name hoarding), hopefully eliminate duping. Probably lots of other things I'm not even considering.

I guess it'd be like releasing a new game. Old Bnet/D2 might still exist for awhile while new D2/Bnet becomes the norm.

All the logistics and technical aspects aside, would they add/edit the story at all? If they re-released the game and added content that merited another playthrough that wasn't just a ladder reset, I would be so down

I know AoE added extra stuff. But with d3 being the next part of the story I don't know what they would add.

I wonder if leaving the original up would end up hurting it if they changed that kind of stuff.

There are a lot of quests that are vague and approaching the Skyrim baseline for objectives (go here, kill this guy, get this item, etc.) that they could expand on. I wasn't referring to adding more to the linear plot, but expanding on certain things that you only experience in the world of D2. Would be great for veteran players and literally provide replay value for players. If they could expand a tiny percentage of the lore to the level of Elder Scrolls, it would be amazing. This is all simply theoretical of course and my own shitty personal opinion.

I would love that! Could easily add some shit to act 4. It's like a quarter of an act right now.

I'm going to make a smiter tonight. Anyone have any decent items for one? Thinking I need a weapon and belt.
