Oh, when it comes to other teams beating the packers, I'm very happy to see the odds of Eagles @ Packers shift from 3:1 Packers Favorites to 1.2:1 Packers Favorites.
With or without Aaron Rodgers, a matchup vs the Packers on Thanksgiving Day will be a tough win. Football is Football. Anything can happen. I think it would be more of an emotional victory for the Lions if they beat the Packers @ full strength. I think it's wins like that--those morale victories, that carry football teams through the playoffs. It would not only change our record--it boosts confidence in the team.
We are without a doubt already a competitor. But without Rodgers, it puts the team in a situation--where for morale, they can only lose.
That is not true at all. No team will "lose morale" if they win a game. However, the really could lose morale if they lose the game. And if Thanksgiving is a "tough win" without Aaron Rodgers... it will be a very tough win with him. And we are not facing the packers at full strength anyway. They have lost Finley, Cobb, and Bryan Bulaga this year... all of which have huge impact on their team.
And no lions player is going to go home sad or disappointed if they win this game... with our without Aaron Rodgers. I do agree that we will have a good chance at beating the packers even with Aaron Rodgers. You, as a fan, may be disappointed if Aaron Rodgers doesn't play. But the lions as a team, as players, as coaches, etc. will be more than stoked to take a win against Green Bay with or without Aaron Rodgers. To WANT him to play this game is just stupid. Beating the bears, winning MNF, taking the division... those are moral boosting things. The lions firmly placing themselves in playoffs will raise their moral. We do not need to face Aaron Rodgers in a regular season game to give our guys "morale".
