It's not stupid. We can still make the playoffs even if we lose to them. I want to be able to talk mad shit if we win. I'm not going to feel a big sense of accomplishment if we beat them with Wallace behind center. I want to finally take them down with Rodgers still playing.

Agreed.

Who cares? A W is a W. And Aaron Rodgers being out of that game helps us get that win. If we loose the game against the Packers and that keeps us from playoffs... will you still be happy Aaron Rodgers was in the game?

Don't be stupid. Anything that helps the lions make the playoffs is better for them. Who gives a fuck about bragging rights? You want an accomplishment? How about we take the NFC North? How about we win a playoff game? How about we make a run in playoffs? Aaron Rodgers being out would be a gift. God, I wish Cutler was out this week too. These things only help us. I just do not understand the logic in wishing out opposing team was better.

I don't want to win because the other team didn't have all the tools to compete. I want to win because we are the better team on the field, not because the best opposing player is injured. I wouldn't want to win the super bowl because the other teams plane crashed on the way to the stadium. It's not being stupid, it's a matter of accomplishments. You didn't climb the mountain if you take a helicopter to 100 feet below the peak and start the journey there. I don't want us to win a few games because cutler and rodgers are out only to get smoked by Drew Brees in the playoffs. I want a team that can beat the packers with rodgers and the bears with cutler and the saints with brees, the broncos with payton, etc. is my point.

If you believe we have that team then who cares? There are bigger fish to fry then beating the packers with Aaron Rodgers in a regular season game.

Oh, when it comes to other teams beating the packers, I'm very happy to see the odds of Eagles @ Packers shift from 3:1 Packers Favorites to 1.2:1 Packers Favorites.

With or without Aaron Rodgers, a matchup vs the Packers on Thanksgiving Day will be a tough win. Football is Football. Anything can happen. I think it would be more of an emotional victory for the Lions if they beat the Packers @ full strength. I think it's wins like that--those morale victories, that carry football teams through the playoffs. It would not only change our record--it boosts confidence in the team.

We are without a doubt already a competitor. But without Rodgers, it puts the team in a situation--where for morale, they can only lose.

This team is getting better and better.

Win the first game of the year vs a divisional opponent? Check
0-forever in washington? Check
Come home to take the division lead from the division rival? Check
Miraculous last second drive to win the game by 1? Check

There were hiccups along the way, but good teams win games the Lions have won this year. They overcome the past and move towards a positive future.
Heres the games, in my opinon, we have to win to continue to rid ourselves of the "Same old Lions" mentalitiy:
1) Win at Chicago. All these negative losing streaks. 5 straight losses at Chicago has to end this sunday. I dont care if Cutler is playing or not. Stafford was injured the first 2 years and teams were accepting wins without our QB so Ill take this win without theirs. Even if he does play at 100%, we should win this game. We are the better team.
2) Win against GB on Thanksgiving. We can knock out 2 birds with one stone here. We need to win vs Green Bay, and a win without A Rod will probably feel cheap, but a win on Thanksgiving won't, no matter who we face. Especially since we should have won last year. Another long losing streak that has to end.
3) MNF against Baltimore. This is our ultimate primetime chance to show the world we are different. A blowout against Baltimore in front of an electric crowd on National TV will make a statement to everybody and even though not a lot of people will admit it, but they will be scared to play us in the playoffs if were at home.
If we win against Chicago, GB and Baltimore we are definitely for real.

Now, that being said, I do expect us to win all 3 games regardless of whos playing. And a 2-1 record will be disappointing. We need to take this division for the first time since 93 and host a playoff game as the 3rd seed. We just need to host one playoff game.

I don't think many of us live in the Detroit area. I lived like 2 hours west of where you're at.
