Almost like the NFL is penalizing them for not wanting to continue playing Monday night.

They can only play prior AFC Championship. If we both win next week we’ll face each other the following week. KC will automatically get the lowest seeded remaining team, and we’ll be 2 + 3.

I don't think that's correct, one of the teams would be on KC's side

NFL doesn’t work like a standard playoff/tournament bracket. The matchups shuffle so that the 1 seed plays the lowest remaining seed.
