I'd feel better about Joeckel over Fisher, even if Joeckel didn't play a single game lmao. Chiefs really screwed up by taking Fisher 1st overall. Joeckel >

Cyprien came on slow at the start of the season, due to missing all of training camp with a hamstring injury. But he got better every game and really started to come on in the 2nd half of the season.

I liked Cyprien more before the draft, and if I wasn't obligated to homer, I would probably still like him more now. Elam doesn't wrap up and form tackle though, although he does hit hard and play instinctively when playing the run.

Reid > both though, and I didn't watch much Vaccaro, but it sounds like he had a good year.

2013 was a good year for safeties.

Reid was benefited from playing on a stacked Defense. Their front 7 is one of the best in the entire league. Cyp had the hardest and longest adjustment period coming from a small school (Florida International). Reid played at LSU, Elam at Florida and Vaccaro at Texas. All adjusted quicker to the NFL level.

It's still way too early to tell for all of them, but I'm still more then happy with Cyp. I think he's gonna be a big time play maker for us down the road. He's a big time thumper like Kam Chancellor, but Cyp has better range then him.

Players on #Jaguars roster by draft year: 2004 (1), 2005 (0), 2006 (2), 2007 (0), 2008 (0), 2009 (0), 2010 (1), 2011 (4), 2012 (3), 2013 (8)

The reason this team has been bad for so long... Terrible drafting by GMs Shack Harris and Gene Smith.

It's nice to know we finally have 2 guys who know what the hell they're doing in Dave Caldwell and Gus Bradley.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to make some moves during the 2014 NFL free agency period, but there are already some rumors floating around surrounding the NFL Draft and free agency.

Free Agency Rumors

We've mentioned before that veteran defensive end Jason Babin could be on the outs in a cost saving move, especially if the Jaguars are indeed going to be after a big time pass rusher in free agency. Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union mentioned that Babin could indeed be on the outs in his column on Tuesday.

While Babin is still somewhat of a productive player for the Jaguars and really their only true LEO on the roster, he's still 33 years old and carrying a $6 million cap hit. If the Jaguars are planning on signing a free agent and drafting a pass rusher in the first three rounds like most believe, dumping Babin also opens up snaps for the new free agent and a rookie to work with. Babin is too expensive to keep as a backup with that price tag and releasing him would actually somewhat off-set the cost of a higher priced free agent.

As O'Halloran mentions, Babin's release may not come this week, but I would expect it to happen sometime this month, likely after they sign someone else for the position.

O'Halloran also notes that Michael Bennett is likely off the list for the Jaguars, as most feel he's going to re-sign with the Seahawks which would likely require Chris Clemons being cut, which is a player the Jags could have interest in. He also mentions Michael Johnson, Lamarr Houston, Everson Griffen and Willie Young as possible LEO/DE targets.

With Alex Mack getting the transition tag, it also sounds like guard will be their priority with free agency. Which frankly, is a good thing. There are more good guards available than centers.

Draft Rumors

While most don't expect the Jaguars to use a high pick on a defensive back in the draft, that doesn't mean they're not interested.

Jaguars and Titans interviewed Ole Miss CB Charles Sawyer at his Pro Day yesterday, according to @TonyPauline.

The 5'10" 175 pound defensive back played corner for Ole Miss, but is also thought as someone who could be a safety convert. I'd assume with his size he would be viewed as the single-high center fielder type of safety that the Jaguars scheme employs. Sawyer ran 4.46s/4.51 40-yard dash, had a 37.5" vertical jump and 13 reps of 225 pounds on the bench/

On the Frank Frangie Show on 1010XL Monday afternoon, Ryan O'Halloran joined to talk Jaguars draft notes. Some noteworthy things he mentioned was that he was essentially told mid-season if the Jaguars picked at the top of the draft again they wouldn't be picking another offensive tackle, so that likely rules out Greg Robinson, Jake Matthews and the like from the No. 3 overall pick. He also didn't seem to think the Jaguars had any interest in picking Johnny Manziel with the No. 3 overall pick.

O'Halloran also seemed to indicate he felt the Jaguars top two targets were South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. He made it seem as if if either one of those players are available when the Jaguars pick, they will select them. I have a hard time seeing Clowney making it out of the Top 2, but it does seem to point to the Jaguars liking Bridgewater, mostly because he seems to be the one quarterback who can start immediately.

Henne got a 2 years contract.

Why does Gus and Jags organization like Henne so much?

He's a good backup QB, and 4mil/year is on par for a backup.

I think Gus is thinking that Henne may be the #1 qb.

That just means Gabbert's time is done in Jags and I'm more or less curious about how Hako feels since he liked Gabbert more than Henne.

It's not so much that they really like Henne as the #1 QB, it's mainly because he knows the system and there isn't anybody else out there. When Henne and an old Mike Vick are the two best FA QB options on the market, that's saying a whole lot for how bad of a QB crop it is in FA this year.

The draft is never a sure thing. There's not even a guarantee they love any of the QBs in this draft, so having QBs on the roster who already know the system is key. Especially if we only end up getting a mid-late round QB prospect, we sure aren't going to have any plans to throw him straight to the wolves on day 1. He'd have to beat out the other QBs, much like Wilson did for you guys and prove it.

Nobody was surprised by Henne resigning, everybody knew they were gonna resign him. Henne said how much he wanted to come back and both Gus and Caldwell said they wanted him back. He's a back up QB and a possible stop gap for another year, depending on how the Draft, training camps etc etc go.

Nothing changes with this Henne resigning. QB is still one of our top needs and Bridgewater should be our pick if he's there at #3.

However, I'm starting to really get nervous that it's going to be either Clowney #1 and somebody will trade up for Teddy at #2, or vice versa. I feel those two are the cream of the crop and that it honestly drops down a little tiny bit after them (part of it is due to our huge needs at QB and DE). If those two go 1 and 2, I gotta admit, I'll definitely be a little bummed out. If they do indeed go 1 and 2, then I hope we can trade down because that's really the only way I see us getting value at #3.

As avid fans and draft aficionados, I think we tend to assume the worst lol.

Yea, I agree 100%.

Especially knowing that if we would have lost to the Texans just once, we'd be picking #1 overall and could take whoever we wanted <_<
