I hope Durkin puts in work. Kevin Plank's new training facility, coupled with the Under Armour equipment deal, should interest more recruits, at least that's the plan. Surprised he's getting any big-name recruits after getting off to a late start as a new HC. --and now I see we're actually talking about the next recruiting class lol, I'm bad at this
Here's espn's article on Kaindoh:
Quote
ESPN 300 defensive end Joshua Kaindoh fooled everyone by committing to Maryland which wasn't even in his recently released top four. Read below to see how the super-talented edge-rusher fits in College Park:
What he brings: Kaindoh is a physically impressive prospect with a tall, broad frame and outstanding length and as he continues to develop could grow into a physical monster. As a player, he has shown a good deal of progress in technique and production and still has a nice ceiling for development. He can use his size and length to be able to set the edge as a run defender and in addition to being physically gifted he displays good discipline in his assignments. He has the tools to be disruptive as an edge rusher, with ability to use his length and athleticism to work past blockers or use his height to take away a throwing lane and knock passes down.
How he fits: Kaindoh is a Maryland native, making this a crucial and huge pickup for the Terps. The program gets one of the top defensive prospects in this class, who still possesses a great deal of upside. Just this weekend Maryland saw two key contributors from the 2015 D-Line get drafted and with them went 20 sacks. Kaindoh can’t help replace that production this season and might even need a little time to get comfortable and find his stride so to speak when he hits campus, but in the not too distance future, Maryland has a player with the ability to be a menacing pass rusher and potentially an impact- type defender.
Reminds us of: Shilique Calhoun, Michigan State. Much like the standout Spartans defender, Kaindoh is a long, physically impressive prospect that will enter college with promising upside. Both possess an excellent combination of size and athleticism. While Calhoun is little more agile, the talented 2017 defensive end is still growing into his massive frame and will end up carrying more bulk and could end up being a more stout run-defender. Like Calhoun, who notched at least ten sacks each of his last three seasons with the Spartans, Kaindoh, who will also play in the Big Ten, can also use his length and good first-step quickness to grow into disruptive, if not dominating, pass rushing presence.
How the class is shaping up: D.J. Durkin is off to a good start as he works to assemble his first full class as head coach of the Terrapins. A key for Maryland will be defending their home turf and keeping some of the excellent talent in the DMV area close to home and with the commitment of Kaindoh they have taken a big stride in doing that. Of their seven commitments, all are from or originally hail from the DMV, including Cam Spence, a DT out of IMG, but from the Baltimore area and top-twenty OG Jordan McNair.
