judging by the fact they passed on the pick at first it seems they weren't liking something about him and that's why they were trying to trade down. Will see how it turns out I guess.

Well I'm just wondering if they took him because they had too or because they really wanted to. Or I guess they figured they could have gotten him at 29.

They didn't really pass him up.
They tried to trade down to the Bears pick since they would be adding a 4th rounder and were going to grab Jimmy at 29 since KC & NO didn't need him.

from what i heard they were gonna get a 4th + only move back a few picks

they assumed jimmy would still be there

Yes, it would have been a smart move to let them have kids and sue him for Child Support later down the road.
