Here comes the Super Bowl run with two impact players coming back!
John McClain - Houston ChronicleThe Texans’ injury situation improved during four days of rest, relaxation and rehabilitation after two overtime victories in five days.
Despite a wealth of injuries, the only player who’s guaranteed to miss Sunday’s game at Tennessee is outside linebacker Brooks Reed, who has a serious groin injury and will miss three to four weeks. Reed’s injury opens up a starting spot for first-round pick Whitney Mercilus. It also means Bryan Braman, the team’s best special-teams player, will get the most playing time of his two-year career behind Mercilus and Connor Barwin.
Like his injured teammates, pro bowl cornerback Joseph is eager to get back on the field for the Texans (10-1), who are trying to sweep the Titans and increase their winning streak to six games. “It’s definitely important to me,” Joseph said about returning to the lineup. “It’s about getting back out there and helping my team any way possible. Our goal is to win as many games as possible and get the best seeding.”
Running back Ben Tate (hamstring), nose tackle Shaun Cody (ribs), inside linebacker Tim Dobbins (shoulder) and receiver DeVier Posey (shoulder), all of whom missed the Detroit game, are expected back at practice Wednesday. Inside linebacker Bradie James (hamstring) and offensive tackle Derek Newton (knee) are day-to-day but Kubiak hasn't ruled out either for the Titans game.
