It does considerably more than any other part of the field. We can choose the 50 yard line for all I care. You have to move the ball let’s say 45 yards, positive yardage, to get a touch back.. For you to get a safety from the 50 you have to go backwards 51 yards. One is a fair indication of success, the other is a fair indicator for failure. Plus, you can’t advance a fumble anyways right so boom down at the 1 unless a defender takes possession.

Even if he made the 44 yard field goal, the chiefs had 2 timeouts and 1:44 left to go get their own field goal...it was a bad spot in general for the Bills
