Typically should players be played on the projected points or based on how low ranked the defense is they are up against? Or both

Always go w gut feeling

Projected points already takes their opposing defense into account, in most cases.

I base my decisions entirely on situational. Or even my personal preferences. Projected points are a decent gauge but never to be strictly followed.

Just use common sense

ESPN has Agholor projected at like 4 points. Either their algorithm is way off or they're not accounting for Alshon and Djax being out.

Never use projected points unless it says zero

The projections are often terrible. If you feel the need to take an expert's opinion over your own, google who to start and you'll get a number of sites where you can compare player vs player based on a large number of expert opinions.

It's impossible to know though, insane anamolies happen each and every week and I go with my gut almost always, unless my gut has led me astray for 2+weeks, then I do the exact opposite of what it says lol.
