Its been known for years DeBeers or DeBoers or whatever it is created an artificial market for them.

I mean christ they are in saw blades and shit. They obviously cant be that rare.

They are embedded in the tips of high end saw blades and high end tooling for CNC machines. Diamond is the hardest substance known to man, and that is why it is used in those applications.

And that tooling is extremely expensive.

it doesn't mean they are any less common

it's widely known that diamonds are one of the more common gems in the world, they just created a stranglehold on the supply and are able to charge as they please now

I was making a joke about the saw blades. Most of the diamonds in blades and shit are create artificially iirc.

But the market being faked and shit has been proven.

Well, actually, here in the United Fucking States of America, we let supply and demand decide the value of goods. As long as people are willing to buy diamonds at ridiculously high costs, that is what their worth is.

I, however, will never buy a diamond engagement ring. That tradition is dumb as hell - there are much nicer looking rings for literally hundredths of the cost of a diamond ring.
