you looking to get teaching degree or?
No. Well, I mean I could if I wanted to pursue some sort of position as a program director at some college, but that would be many years away.
For right now, I'm just going to get my MA studying rhetoric and composition, take a position as a teaching assistant or adjunct professor, and then graduate.
Upon graduation, I will have valuable teaching experience from my TA, as well as the reputation that comes from completing Maryland's MA program (which is one of the best), to help land me a job somewhere as I pursue my PhD. It'd be cool to work as a community college professor somewhere while I earn my PhD. My local Harford Community College has a very nice campus with new-ish buildings and smarter students (it's a better school district), so that would be a sweet gig, plus I graduated there myself. And it would keep me close to home.
Getting accepted into MD's MA program is my metaphorical foot in the door. If I can eventually earn a spot in their PhD program I'd pretty much be set for life--basically everyone who graduates with a PhD from MD's rhet/comp program gets a 6-figure job as either a professor or professional writer for the government or something.
