best football news I've heard in a while! damn that would be sweet! apparently even tho he "retired" he's still kept in touch with the team:

While Scarnecchia retired after the 2013 season, he has remained around the team, primarily helping with evaluations of college offensive linemen entering the NFL. Scarnecchia's willingness to discuss a return to the coaching staff in 2016 is an indication that his retirement from coaching might be short-lived, as one source said that it would be a surprise at this point if he isn’t back on the Patriots sideline for next season.

As to why we lost? Not the coach, but the RT. 90% or so. He was just a ghost.
Other major factors.
Brady's INT to Miller.
Kickergate missing a 1 pter.
And having back to back possessions late in the 4th inside Denver 30? and failing on 4th down(twice). Scored on the next drive but too late.

22 QB hits(by far the most this year), @Denver(cant hear the snap count so cant change it, easy jumps for the best DE duo), no RB to even help block in the backfield because he'd become the tackle pretty much (LOLCANNON)
Lost on last play.
If they played on neutral field/Foxboro? Bruh

Cam Newton had time in the pocket plenty of times...something Brady didn't.
Only difference is Cam holds the ball too long.
Then again, having Tedd Ginn and Philly Brown(who left early) vs. premier corners doesn't help.
