draino, do you think if Ben Tate has another big game and Slaton doesn't even bother to suit up that Slaton will be released by next Thursday?

even if slaton does suit up and tate has an average/bad game, he's good as gone, whether we can trade him or not. idk if he'll be released/trade early or whenever the 53 man roster come out, i think he'll be gone.

Getting anything for Slaton would be better than letting him walk for nothing. I just don't know what team would be willing to part with a day-two draft pick for him. A team like the Arizona Cardinals for example, may just wait another week to see if he's released. I'm disappointed the way Slaton flamed out so fast. Just two years ago he was arguably the best rookie running back in the NFL. His numbers were on par if not better than Chris Johnson and Matt Forte. The injuries, gaining weight and fumbling problems were a disaster last season.

they said he got his speed back, but he cant even get onto the field. and i'll take a 5-7th rounder for him lol.

They drafted Mr. Irrelevant Cheta Ozougwu from Rice in this past draft. I hear he's got a decent chance to make the team because he can play special teams. Zac Diles went to the Rams but he is having a good NFL career after being a seventh-round pick.

Rick Smith is very good at finding gems when it comes to seventh-round draft picks and also undrafted rookie free agents (Arian Foster, Lester Jean). He can probably turn any draft pick for Slaton into something good in next year's draft. A seventh-round pick would work for me.

I was very impressed the way Ben Tate ran the ball last week against the Saints. His legs were always moving even at the point of impact. With his size he's going to be a real load inside the red zone. He may ultimately take some TDs away from Arian Foster from a fantasy football perspective.

idk why we didnt draft the dude from boston college instead. don't really care about cheta lol, and the special team is bad right now. blocking, returning, etc. and rick smith sucks, drafted started out good, but ended shitty.

and for the houston area ppl, pearland vs madison at 7pm on channel 57, KUBE. its supposed to be a local channel.

I'll finally get to see Johnathan Joseph play Saturday Night against the 49ers. I didn't see him play much for the Bengals in the past. All I really remember is Andre Johnson burning him on a quick slant route. I hope he's worth the big contract he got. The defensive pass rush has been looking good and racking up sacks in the pre-season (base defense), and this is the first game Wade Phillips will show some blitz packages.

Wade Phillips is going to show some blitzes tonight against the 49ers. In the first two pre-season games he used a base defense. The Texans were still racking up a lot of sacks and getting good pressure. The starters will play three quarters tonight. This is the last tune up before the regular season. No starters are going to play against the Vikings on Thursday's final pre-season game.

49ers went up 7-0 on the first play of the game. Fans were all excited, LOL. 30-0 the rest of the way though.

Texans didn't even play their best on offense. I thought they made way too many mistakes. Three turnovers (1 INT and 2 careless fumble). They could have racked up 40 or 50 points if they were on their A-game last night. That one fumble by Owen Daniels was just a lack of concentration, which negated a 20-yard completion. Derrick Ward just lost control of the ball on the other one -- may as well keep Steve Slaton if you want that.

Arian Foster's hamstring injury seems to be a recurring theme this pre-season. That leaves room for some concern and uncertainty. He needs to get his health together before the season opener. But at least he has played a couple of games. Steve Slaton has the same injury and hasn't suited up once in the three pre-season games. Talk about quitting on the team and punching his ticket out of town.

The Texans Defense continues to show a strong pass rush. Most sacks (14) and forced fumbles (6) this pre-season. They're also forcing numerous interceptions as well. That's huge if they keep it up during the regular season. No reason why they shouldn't under Wade Phillips. I think most people expected their defense to make a lot of improvement this year. They added a lot of defensive talent in the off-season during the draft and free agency.

At this point, I don't know if I want a 4-0 pre-season. it would seem a little bittersweet to me. The backups may as well have a bad game against the Vikings on Thursday just to get a little dose of adversity. The Texans have a lot to prove this season. A great pre-season means nothing, unfortunately.
