I mean, you just lost your best player. What makes you think you're going to suddenly improve? I've been waiting for Stafford to take that next step, just like everyone else has. It's time to stop waiting and, like Andy Dalton, accept having a slightly above average starting QB.
We invested heavily in our line this offseason, which will hopefully be able to give us a run game as well as give Stafford enough time to actually make throws in rhythm instead of being pressured so much. I'm by no means calling Stafford an elite QB, but he is capable of much more than he's been giving, he just doesn't ever have any time in the pocket, our o-line has been atrocious. That along with having more than two competent receivers as well as Cooter going into his first full season as OC gives me hope that our offense won't take too much of a step back, and may not be one-dimensional any longer. Obviously losing a player of Calvin's caliber hurts a lot, but I think he left us in an okay situation.
