The guys on the NFL Network show this morning, mainly Eric Davis, are saying the Texans lack a good and consistent passing game to be considered the best team in the NFL and still question if they're the best team in the AFC. Do they not realize Owen Daniels didn't play last night, our second most reliable option in the passing game, and the weather conditions dictated running the ball over 30 times?
When Matt Schaub tried to sling it downfield he was picked off twice by the same guy. The Texans did what they had to do and won the game 13-6. I'm happy with an 8-1 record and not worried one bit about the inconsistencies in the passing game. It will be there when the Texans are healthy and ready for the playoffs.
We've seen when the Texans passing attack is at its best this season in a couple of games against Denver and Baltimore. They scored a ton of points in those games. Gary Kubiak realizes the formula to winning games. Playing great defense, running the ball effectively and controlling the time of possession. The Texans commit the fewest turnovers in the league as well.
Are the Texans the best team in the NFL? I don't really care. They have more work to do to win the 1st seed in the AFC. Still a lot of football left to play and they are playing good football despite key injuries to Owen Daniels and Ben Tate - two very important pieces to the offense. And of course it wasn't easy losing an All Pro like Brian Cushing -- that's like the Packers without Clay Matthews, the Ravens without Ray Lewis and the Bears without Brian Urlacher.
But yet, Wade Phillips gets the most out of every player he has regardless if they're an All Pro or not.
The only thing I'm worried about right now is beating the Jaguars on Sunday and then beating the Lions next Thursday on Thanksgiving.
Let's get to 10-1 and then talk about how the Texans passing game on offense is inconsistent. LOL
