Anyone have any input or expertise to share concerning an Intel i5-6500 vs an amd 6350?

I'm wanting to play doom, dirty bomb, and maybe battlefield in 1080p around 60 fps...I put together my potential build with the amd, but am hearing it'd be worth the extra $60 to get the i5 over the amd counterpart.

Looking at either the r9 380 4 gb gpu or the gtx 960 2 gb...(current potential build is using the gtx)

Just curious if the difference in fps justifies the extra hundred bucks I'll shell out.

Intel is superior in almost every aspect unless you are going for a budget build. I would personally save up for at least a 970 but if you insist on the two cards listed the 960 is more powerful

Intel is better, but a very large majority of computer users will never know the difference.

I agree to save up for the 970, but I'm pretty sure the 380 is better than the 960

E: especially if he is looking for a multi monitor setup

Going to be running on one monitor.

/e also, the guy helping me on reddit is insisting on an ssd...if I plan on only having a handful of games installed at a time, do I really need the ssd?

I'm on a $700 budget, including peripherals (keyboard and potentially monitor if my extra tv doesn't cut it), and can be right at $600 with the i5, 380, and other internal components. Then I'll have $100 for a keyboard/monitor (I may go a little over budget to get a decent monitor).

This is my first pc build, so I'm not looking to do anything too extravagant, especially considering this is just going to be a gaming machine. No editing or anything like that.

The ssd will be where you install your OS so everything about the computer, especially start up time, will vastly improve. You can store a couple games on it and notice a difference, but I'd highly recommend at least getting one for your os and then an hdd for everything else. Storage is cheap these days.

The 960 scored better in most benchmarks

Damn I was thinking the 380 was close to the 970.

SSDs are super nice, but they won't change anything noticeable with your gaming. You will notice how fast your computer starts and if you aren't doing much else with the computer that's pretty much where it ends. I wouldn't build a computer without one after having one personally though. My computer from cold boot to opening photoshop is under 30 seconds.

That feel when you've been holding in a mean shit at work for like 4 hours and you finally get home and someone is taking a 20min shower so you just question life.
